  • More on videos from Lang.NET symposium

If you want to download the videos to watch later, or to happily play them faster, skip ahead etc, then you can grab the .wmv files instead of having to watch them in a browser in silverlight. I like to increase the play speed in parts and silverlight doesn't allow that ;) To get the .wmv's,...

  • Microsoft thinks VB programmers are so "special" ...

I was flicking through some MSDN help pages, when I noticed this topic on Component Authoring: Isn't it nice how "special" Microsoft views VB folks. Obviously anyone using C# doesn't have this issue, it's just the people using VB. Not patronising at all <geez> Oh well, at...

  • Counting deck chairs on the titanic

Paul Vick released some statistics in relation to VB , which for discussion sake I'll repeat here : Visual Basic is the #1 .NET language (as reported by Forrester Research) Visual Basic is the #1 downloaded and #1 registered Express Edition (topping the #2 position by 20%) Visual Basic is the #1...

  • a hard lesson learnt ..

Trying really hard not to laugh (too much) at Nige's latest mishap , but there is a valuable lesson to be learnt there.. If you don't know the difference between a shovel and a spade you shouldn't be using them ;) (hint that sure looks like a shovel, not a spade. And no shovels are not meant for digging...

  • deleting typed URLs from IE's address bar.

You can get IE to easily clear the history for textboxes by selecting the entry and then pressing the Delete key . But you can't do the same for IE's address bar. Clearing ALL your IE history will clear the list of typed URLs, but I really didn't want to have to do a complete wipe just to remove a couple...

  • IE Administrator Approved ActiveX

I like to run IE with ActiveX for the internet set to administrator approved. This allows me to run things such as windows update, media player, macromedia flash, without all the other activex possibilities to worry about ;) This is the reg file I use to set the administrator approved controls Windows...

  • I've been podded

A couple of weeks ago, late one Sunday night, Dr Pete decided to record a conversation with me. The sound quality isn't the best as he called me over Skype so it sounds very much like a mobile just out of range. I know I found it difficult at times due to the time lag/echo on the line. But it was fun...
