Exchange 2010 Service Pack 2 available

Exchange 2010 SP2 is a complete installation software pack, so for new Exchange installations, you can use it to start with from scratch.

Also when you use it for updating your current installations, be aware that you need Schema- and/or Organisaiton Administrator rights, because it contains a Schema update for your Active Directory.

And this Schema update needs to be execute in the domain where the Schema Master Role exist. So run setup /prepareAD not in the domain where you operate your Exchange Servers, it will not work. You need to go to the root domain, if there is the Schema Master or you have to move the Schema Master on to a domain controller in the domain where you operate your Exchange environment.

And remember that you should wait for replication across your AD after you’ve performed the Exchange 2010 SP2 Schema update.

During you’re waiting for replication, you can use the time to install the ‘IIS 6 WMI Compatibility’ feature. It is mandatory for your following Exchange 2010 SP2 installation, because of the new ‘Outlook Mini’ feature, which requires this feature on your CAS server roles.

Schedule

5 minutes for /prepareAD
15 minutes for replication (more if you have higher replication times set on your site links)
5 minutes for feature prerequisits
30 minutes for finishing SP2 setup per system

so you should be through with it within a hour for your first system and schedule 30 minutes for every following systems …

Reboot after SP2 installation should not be necessary.

And think about to disable Anti Virus Scanning on the box you’re going to perform Exchange 2010 SP2 Setup for upgrade.

Habe gerade einen Blogeintrag von Martina Grom [MVP Office 365] zum Thema BlackBerry-Anbindung an Office 365 gelesen. Demnach ist eine vollwertige BES-Integration (derzeit geht nur BIS) in Beta.

Wichtig: Dieser Service wird nur in den E-Plänen verfügbar sein :-(

Exchange for Hosters

As you know, this feature was removed from the current version of Exchange. There are some features back with Exchange 2010 SP1 back not as we had it in the past with legacy versions.

Now with Exchange 2010 SP2 we will get back functionality on a standard On-Premise Exchange environment.

Guter Artikel zu RIMs Problemen mit den BlackBerrys

Ich habe soeben beschlossen, mich künftig auch mit Twitter zu beschäftigen. Ob das gut geht, weiß ich noch nicht…ich glaube, Twitter ist einfach eine ideale Ergänzung zu einem Blog, um noch schneller kurze Infos loszuwerden. Wie diese hier…möchte euch auf einen in meinen Augen interessanten Artikel zum Thema Zukunft von RIM und den Problemen mit den BlackBerrys aufmerksam zu machen. Ihr müsst es ja nicht lesen *gg*. Ich werde es euch wissen lassen, ob ich das in die Tat umsetze.

Issue with Exchange 2010 SP1 Rollup 3 and Blackberry [Update]

The Microsoft Exchange Team has received notification of an issue impacting some customers which have RIM BlackBerry devices connecting to an Exchange 2010 SP1 RU3 environment. Now the team actively working with RIM to identify the exact scenarios in which customers are reporting this issue in order to narrow down the root cause of the problem and identify a suitable resolution for it.

Therfore you are currently not able to download the Exchange 2010 SP1 Rollup 3 anymore and have to wait for a replacement.

Vodafone DE hat endlich die 6er Firmware für den BlackBerry Bold 9700 freigegeben.

Aktuell ist nun 6.0.0.448

Somit gibt es offiziell für folgende Geräte eine 6er Firmware: 9800, 9780, 9700 und 9300.

iPhone, OWA Premium and POP3/IMAP4 issues with Exchange 2010 SP1

After applying E2010 SP1 iPhone users may not be able to view the content of incoming messages in their Inboxes, and when they try to open a message, they get an error that this message has not been downloaded from the server.

Also OWA Premium users may not be able to reply or forward a message. They may see the following error in OWA:

‘An unexpected error occurred and your request couldn't be handled. Exception type: System.ArgumentException, Exception message: imceaDomain must be a valid domain name.’

And POP3/IMAP4 users may also not be able to retrieve incoming mail.

The issues are caused by non-standard domain names. Verify that there is one domain marked as ‘Default’ and it's DomainName and Name values are valid domain names, and e.g. don’t have a space within the domain name.

Seit heute ist die neue AppWorld 2.0 für BlackBerry verfügbar.

Zu den Neuerungen zählen:

verbessertes und vereinfachtes Design
keine Zwangsbindung mehr an PayPal
Möglichkeit, günstigere Apps zu kaufen
Einführung der BlackBerry ID um die Apps einfacher auf ein neues Gerät zu übertragen und einfacher zu verwalten
uvm.

Mir hat die AppWorld 2.0 dazu verholfen, endlich überhaupt wieder eine AppWorld nutzen zu können. War leider auch von dem Problem BlackBerry Messenger icon has disappeared from the BlackBerry Home screen betroffen.

BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 verfuegbar

Ab sofort ist die BlackBerry Desktop Software in der Version 6 verfügbar und steht zum Download bereit.

Die Desktop Software wird überwiegend von Nutzern der “Privatkunden”-Version von BlackBerry in Zusammenhang mit dem BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) benötigt um lokale Daten zu synchronisieren. Die Desktop Software beinhaltet KEIN Firmwareupgrade für die Handhelds.

Auf der Downloadseite wird für BlackBerry Enterprise Server-Nutzer (BES) auf den (derzeit noch nicht existierenden) RIM KB-Artikel KB23745 verwiesen. Bitte lest euch den durch, bevor ihr die Desktop Software 6 mit BES verwendet.
