CD Ripping Problems In Windows Media Player
Below is good general troubleshooting information for CD Ripping in WMP.
The first thing it might be the is a corrupt library. If WMP thinks it's library database is corrupt it will not add any files to it. Rebuilding your library using the steps at http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary is a good idea.
After that if it doesn't work you may have had a file that needs to be re-registered within Windows. To do this goto Start>>Run>>Type "regsvr32 wmadmoe.dll" (No Quotes) and then press Enter. See if that works.
If not, the next suggested thing to try is to run the System File Checker in Windows. To do this goto Start>>Run>>Type "sfc /scannow" (No Quotes) and then press Enter. You will need your Windows CD-ROM for this. If you have a machine from HP, Compaq, Dell, Etc you might have a folder on your PC named i386. This is most likely located in C:\ or D:\. This contains the needed files and you will want to point SFC to that folder.
If that still doesn't work you might try reinstalling WMP over itself. Don't try to uninstall it first, just run the installer again. Depending on how WMP was installed on your machine you may already have the installer. If you do it is located in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Installer.
If you don't see the folder you will need to re-download the installer. It can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/gettingstarted/download/download.asp.
