Windows Home Server

OK, this is going to be cool. I'll bet I can even use it to store programs for my TiVo! The new Windows Home Server is a headless multimedia storage, secure backup, and remote access server that sits in your closet and just does it's job. Quietly and efficiently. Jesse Lewin describes it here. Cool. Yes, I could do the whole thing on my own, but this is simple and well thought out, and I don't have any overhead except power and network. No keyboard, no mouse, no video card.

It would have to be TIVO cause Media Center in Vista isnt reliable !! HAHAHAHAHA

Loses tuning information with DVB-T when new channels are added to the mux by broadcaster, lockups or black screens from standby in Media Cnetre Vista, sometimes a blue screen with no text.

Bugs in Media Player 11 to do with Cover Art; the system stampedes over user cover art to generate its cache.

An no, this ISNT just one computer, this is several different computers with well known brands such as Radeon X300, Nvidia 6800, 1-2GB DDR400 RAM, 400GB SATA2 disk, Intel VIV motherboard, 24 bit Realtek sound, Soundmax sound, Hauppauge HVR1100 DVB-T tuners, Dvico dual DVB-t etc etc.......

So not one computer or cheapest hardware or all from one manufacturer.

Half baked product and usual unreliable results. My MAC does standby and resume perfectly every time (and Im no MAC is the best type fan boy!). Why cant MS get Windows Media Center right !? Theyve had long enough now !

Well, since I have every intention of using it to host my TiVo desktop, I'm sure I'll find out. But others have used Media Center very reliably in Windows Vista. See Barb Bowman's blog, for example.
