Thankyou so much for this straight-forward VBA solution! I easily added an rxGetEnabled function to enable/disable buttons based on the active sheet. All I need to figure out now is how to get my custom tab activated on opening the workbook (without needing a load of other code modules just for one function)

Very late, but dont forget Microsoft Word. I am a lawyer by trade, but I have created some 10,000+ lines of VBA code to help me process my word documents in a variety of ways. For instance, I can take a PDF, save it as text, and have it converted into a well formatted, numbered, automatic clause referenced document with a few clicks of a button. Without VBA, you could not leverage a 10th of the power Word has under the hood.

I looked at the Example Workbook but skydrive.live.com disables macros in the browser. And when I downloaded the workbook there were no macros to be found in the VB Editor. :(

Great post, Bob! I read this after seeing your comment on Rob Collie's Powerpivot blog.

This is a lot for me to digest as I am new to cube functions (I will go read the posts referenced above), and will take some time for me to fully understand. But I understand enough to recognize the value of what you are teaching!

Specific to this post, do you have an example file available that I can dissect and re-create? I've found that this type of hands-on is the most effective for me to grasp the concepts.
