Do not install IE9 on TMG

Published Thu, Mar 24 2011 23:33 | Thomas K.H. Bittner

On machines where you run TMG or only the management console, don’t install Internet Explorer 9, it will break the HTML elements und you will get scripting errors when you try to open the TMG Console.

If you already installed IE9, you can uninstall it and the functionality of TMG Console is back again.

Surely the Forefront team will provide a fix, just a matter of time.

Microsoft is now investigating the problems with IE9 and MMC. Like with TMG and IE9 http://msmvps.com

Other option is to edit a file.

* Open "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway\UI_HTMLs\TabsHandler\TabsHandler.htc"

* Search for the 3 lines which contain "paddingTop", and remark-out each of them by adding "//" in the begining.

Example: Change the line:

m_aPages [niPage].m_tdMain.style.paddingTop = ((m_nBoostUp < 0) ? -m_nBoostUp : 0) ;

into:

// m_aPages [niPage].m_tdMain.style.paddingTop = ((m_nBoostUp < 0) ? -m_nBoostUp : 0) ;

* Save the file, and re-open TMG management console.

AFter that TMG will work in IE9
