I'm a big baseball fan and Fenway Park is one of the two remaining classic parks in the game (the other is Wrigley Field in Chicago). It turns out they have a series against the Texas Rangers that ends the day I planed to arrive, after that they go on the road.

Anyway, I just got around to booking this weekend, I should have done it earlier. I couldn't get a pair of tickets, just this single with an obstructed view - but I don't care - I'm going to Fenway baby!

If you're going to TechEd are probably saying, "Uh Rob, the attendee party is at Fenway Park, you'll be going anyway."

I know - and it's not the same. I can see the real Fenway experience now (my apologies to James Earl Jones and the writers of Field of Dreams for the remainder of this post), I'll walk out to the bleachers, and sit in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon. I'll find my obstucted view seat way up behind one of the baselines, where someone sat when they were a child and watched Bucky Dent homer over the Monster to knock the Sox out of the playoffs. I'll watch the game, and it'll be as if I've dipped myself in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, I'll have to brush them away from my face.

The one constant through all the years has been baseball. The world has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again. Ohhhhhhhh, I will go. I will most definitely go.

Another ObjectSharp MVP - Barry Gervin

ObjectSharp Consulting now has it's third current and fourth lifetime Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP). Barry Gervin, who is already a Regional Director (RD), has been given the MVP Award as a Solution Architect.

I love South Park and I thought Bigger, Longer and Uncut was freakin' brilliant but I left this movie totally disappointed, I didn't laugh out loud until that last few minutes.

Maybe I just didn't get the message of the film or perhaps I got a message different than the one Trey Parker intended. It could just be that as a Canadian I saw the movie from a different viewpoint. I don't know what it was but I sure wish I had my $11.00 back.

Update: There's a good discussion of the movie going on in Rory Blyth's blog.

The Newest Sharpie

I started my first gig today as a Senior Consultant for ObjectSharp Consulting. I’m really looking forward to working with the best and brightest that Toronto has to offer… maybe one day I’ll find the company where they work but for now ObjectSharp will do. All kidding aside, this company has some seriously talented architects and developers, I’m excited that I’ll be able to share experiences and learn with them.
