Team America: World Police - Thumb's Down

I just saw Team America: World Police and I have to say I didn't like it, so much so I almost walked out. I love South Park and I thought Bigger, Longer and Uncut was freakin' brilliant but I left this movie totally disappointed, I didn't laugh out loud until that last few minutes.

Maybe I just didn't get the message of the film or perhaps I got a message different than the one Trey Parker intended. It could just be that as a Canadian I saw the movie from a different viewpoint. I don't know what it was but I sure wish I had my $11.00 back.

Update: There's a good discussion of the movie going on in Rory Blyth's blog.

More on Garbage Collection

If you read my blog regularly you really need to get a hobby you'll know that one of my side quests in the RPG of life is to spread the word about garbage collection and the dispose pattern. I just came across the blog of Chris Lyon who is a tester for the .NET Garbage Collector and, it turns out, a fellow Canadian who grew up just outside Toronto. Beauty eh? Chris has a couple good posts on the use of Dispose (Demystifying Dispose and Dispose Dos and Don'ts) as well as a post with links to other good GC resources. I recommend you take a few moments to see what Chris has to say.
