Another trip down the rabbit hole
One phrase you'll never hear me utter is "Gee, I sure wish I could find some cool new stuff to learn" b/c cool new technologies seem to come down the pipe faster than I can blink my eyes and the tempo is only increasing.
I got into Greenville late yesterday so we didn't get to do our ritual Friday night PF Changs/Barnes and Noble trip. That was postponed until tonight. B/c it's so crowded we left early and got back early. Before we left, the life sucking force known as Paglo got a hold of me but I was able to shake it off for dinner. No such luck when I got back. I pulled down PacketAnalyzer and RogueScanner a while ago in addition to signing up for the Crawler beta. Figured I'd get ahead of the curve and try to familiarize myself with PQL. Right about the time the buzz started to kick in, I started thinking "Hmm, wonder what that plug-in stuff is all about". And that masochistic compulsion to learn something new just b/c it's cool took over. If nothing else, writing a plug-in lets me work on my Ruby skills enough that I can tell certain "I can't push a product out the door to save my life but I'm cooler than you b/c I don't use Microsoft product" pests to take a hike (Yes, I'm talking trash and yes, you know who you are ;-) ). I should probably wait until I actually do something cool with it before running my big trap like I am. Seriously though, this is one of the cooler things I've played with recently and not being able to code it in C# or VB.NET does force some neurons to fire up that otherwise wouldn't so it's pretty darned fun.
