A brilliant idea searching for funding...
I'll admit that calling it brilliant is a bit pompous on my part considering it's my idea. But it is a brilliant idea.
I travel fairly frequently and I constantly see signs for "Earn your MBA <On weekends>, <online>, <in under one year>, <a few hours a week>". Apparently MBA's are something people are willing to pay big bucks for. Atlanta is a big city with lots of people and ostensibly, many MBA seekers. So here's my idea:
Earn your MBA while sitting in traffic!
It's perfect. You can learn on your way to work. You can learn on your way home. You can learn driving out of the city on Fridays. You can learn Sunday nights as you sit in ridiculous amounts of traffic caused by someone pulling over to the side of the road. As absurd as it sounds, I can tell you this.. I got mine back in the old days when you had to attend classes and they took 2+ years. I thought I studied really hard but I know for sure I didn't spend a fraction of the time studying and going to class that I have sitting in traffic in the year I've lived in Atlanta.
The trip from Greenville to Atlanta is roughly 140 miles. Baring traffic considerations, I can usually do it right about two hours give or take twenty minutes. That's if I leave work before 3:30 on Fridays. If I get crazy and leave after 4:00, it takes about 3.5 hours. The one time I left at 5:15 took almost 4 hours. I remembered last year and the Thanksgiving shopping season. I worked under a mile away from my place and it took me an hour to get home on a few different occassions. So I get to start fighting that crazy holiday shopper traffic. Except Perimeter Mall has landed two new ultra popular restaurants since then so I can only imagine it's going to be notably worse this year. If my calculations are right, someone could probably earn an MBA in the month spanning Thanksgiving to Christmas.
There's so much to love about Atlanta, there really is. But traffic is like nothing I've ever ever seen. So heck, if I could figure out how to sell Traffic MBA's, I could probably strike it pretty rich.
