Childhood Arguments

Published Sun, Jul 15 2007 21:36 | William

Don't ask me why, but I got in a discussion with one of my friends about "Silly Stuff that we argued about as kids".  At the risk of dating myself, here's a few...

 1- Hot Wheels vs Matchbox

2- Tyco vs Total Control Racing

3- McDonalds vs Burger King

4- F16 vs Harrier Plane

5-Red Dawn vs Rambo

6-Daisy Duke vs whatever Erin Grey's name was in Buck Rogers in the 21st century

7- Sean Connery vs Roger Moore

8-Whether a guy with an earring in the right ear was 'gay' or not (part of being a kid is being stupid - that's why they call it 'growing up')

9- Halloween vs Friday the 13th

10- IceT vs LL Cool J, LL vs Kool Moe D, Biggie vs Pac

11-Did liking the Fresh Prince's music make you a dork

12- Metallica vs Slayer

13-Every single permutation and combination of Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris/_____ Karate vs ____Kung Fu vs ____Tae Kwon Do

14- Throwing Stars vs Nunchakus

 ----

After we got to talking, I started to wonder if we ever had an argument over something that Wasn't totally stupid.  Somehow though,  I figure that such things are timeless in the sense kids are arguing over them now and argued similarly dumb stuff since kids have been around.  Any other big time arguments anyone wants to admit to having?

"whatever Erin Grey's name was in Buck Rogers in the 21st century"

Col. Wilma Deering.

I didn't look that up on Wikipedia.

We had a 3rd option in the McDonalds/Burger King fight. Bionic Burger. Local burger joint, made burgers and fries so greasy the bag was transparent. You either were a fan or you weren't.

Andy - I looked in the comment bin and I didn't see anything from you.  YOu are one of my most favorite commentors so I definitely don't not publish them. Lemme see what the hell is going on.

Scott - totally bad a55 for remembering that, completely bad a55. I thought I was cool for remembering Alf's neighbors name, but you kicked my butt here

Ben - B5C all the way

Anatoly - By the time I was old enough, I was living in PA.  They argued over Ford vs Chevy (both sucked) - I like the Mercedes vs BMW.

Derek:

I agree it' a closer match, but the argument was about who was more hardcore. Megadeth got dubbed a poser band after Peace Sells by Who's buying - theye had cool album covers but that was it.   Peeps would argue over MD vs Maiden, and some dorks actually argued over Bon Jovi as a real metal band (clearly NO).  I'm with you though man, I agree it's a better argument.

Andy - I just looked through published and unpublished, I don't see anything from you. Did you use the web interface?

Don't forget about Spiderman vs. Wolverine. I always argued that it would be a draw. I think that Spidey could outmaneuver Wolverine, and could definitely get a few choice licks in, but Wolverine's regeneration would keep him going.

Oh yeah, and Dave Ramsey vs. Clark Howard.

Check the spam bin then. I used some language in it. I bet it went into spam.

Chris - are you the same Chris Reeder I went to college with?  If so, definitely drop me a line buddy.  I think you told me your folks were in Greenville, SC - I'm up there pretty regularly so I'd love to get together.

Great call.  I totally forgot about that.  Same with Commodore 64 vs Atari 800.  Excellent call my man
