Dumbest lawsuit Microsoft ever faced

Published 4 March 7 2:5 AM | William

This is a big claim on my part, but if this isn't the  dumbest lawsuit Microsoft has ever faced , it's got to be a contender.

In the lawsuit, Crooker argues that Internet Explorer was set to delete his browsing history after five days, but the software failed to do so. "Any day beyond those parameters is supposed to be permanently deleted and is not supposed to be recoverable," he said. While Crooker's claim against Internet Explorer may be valid, the bigger problem seems to be that Circuit City assured him when he purchased the PC in 2004 that Windows XP, Internet Explorer, and a barrage of other security products would keep his information totally secure.

So what happened?  The FBI raided this guy's home based on tips that he had a bunch of bomb making materials in his house. They raided it and found what can only be described as pretty compelling evidence.  They arrested him and confiscated his computer.  And they found evidence of all sorts of good stuff.

He's suing Microsoft b/c he set IE to delete files after 5 days. Most of what the FBI found was older than five days old and he was under the impression that the stuff would be deleted and unrecoverable.  AFAIK, this guy should be locked up for sheer stupidity alone (and it astounds me they didn't find Meth in his place judging by his picture ;-0 ).  Even if IE did bill the feature as completely fool-proof, I don't think the fact that a major law enforcement agency breached it would classify as some sort of defect.

This lawsuit is just plain ridiculous

It sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

Microsoft can go to hell.

if it says 5 days, it means 5 days.

I would get every penny i could out of those cocksucking microsoft faggots.
