Vista Upgrades, Windows.old and RTFM

Published Tue, Feb 6 2007 3:38 | William
Well, I upgraded my computers to VISTA and didn't have any problem. I was scared about my tablet b/c I install every bit of alpha and beta software I want to try on it.  So it all went without a glitch. Except this annoying "Windows.old" file.  Like the jacka55 I am, I spent about 40 minutes trying to delete it after I copied it over to a USB Drive.  I tried all the usual tricks, safe mode, different accounts, you name it I tried it. Except the really really obvious approach.  When something that should be simple seems to be unbelievably hard, it's b/c you're overlooking something, and typically being too smart by 1/2.  That's a sure sign you need to hit MSN Search or read the manual. I tried the former approach and found this .  15 minutes later I cleared up the 30GB that Windows.old was occupying.

Thanks Bill.

I had wondered about that but since I have more disk space than Carter has pills I didn't worry too much about it.

As cheap as USB space is, I just copied mine off to a USB Drive and erased everything. Took forever to copy but overall, I'm loving VISTA.  Your thoughts?

Other than having to hunt for some things I love Vista. Especially the new look to the desktop.
