Scamming on Craigslist

Published Mon, Oct 30 2006 2:03 | William

So I wanted to get rid of some stuff I've had that's taking up too much space and decided to Craigslist it.  Ebay is too much of a hassle for really big stuff. So I list my stuff and get this back:

"Hello there , i saw your Advert on CL and i want to ask if the above item listed is
still avaliable for sale???"

So I reply "Yah, sure."

Then I get this back (until this point I thought this was a real person):

"Hello,
Thanks for your response, i will like to tell you that
i will like to tell you that i will be buying it, and i will like to tell you that i will be paying with a cashier check in us dollars and as for the shippment my shipper will come for the pick up at your location  upon your confirmation of receiving the payment and i dont want you to look for any other buyer.i would have love to come down for the pick up.but am not chance to do that now but am satisfy with your
discription of the item i will like you to give me the following so  that your payment can be send.................
1....your full name to be on the check

2..your full contact address to send the payment to

3..your zip code

4.your mobile nad land nunmber to reach you.i will
expect your mail.asap.
Looking forward to read from you.
 Regards.
"

So I wrote back this:

"Hi Charles:  Thanks for the email. I guess you didn't see the part of the ad where I mentioned I was selling it on craigslist so that I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of delivery?  Or the other part where I said "If you're going to pay with a Cashier's check, I"m not accepting them. However I'll be glad to follow you over to *your* bank and we can just do everything in cash there.  Or if They create the cashier's check, then I'll accept it but I'll need someone at the bank to create it in front of me before I'll accept it."

Can I get a scammer with a Spellchecker at least?  Jeeeezzzzusss

Yeah I got a ton of those when I advertised my wife's old Toyota Tercel online.

"I'll buy your car without looking at it if you send me your credentials for the transaction...."

Do these Morons think we're all born yesterday?

Apparently so.  I got three more today. One guy is going to send me 4k for my bike.  I posted it for a fraction of that.    It's really amazing how much that crap goes on.
