AOL Customer Service Call from H3ll

Published Fri, Jun 23 2006 2:18 | William

This is a Absolutely shocking .  It took this guy over 20 minutes to cancel his account (and although AOL claims they don't encourage this stuff, how many nightmare stories have you heard about people cancelling AOL?  Granted, few people use such a lame service anymore, but back in the day, I remember going through crap trying to cancel my account and everyone I knew had a similar story).  I wish I had a transcript of this b/c it's unbelievable.  The AOL dude tells him, after the guy says 4 times "I don't know how to make it any more clear, I just want to cancel my account' - "You're going to listen to me..."

If the guy trying to cancel his service went up to AOL and kicked the CS Reps a55 and I was on the jury, he'd be walking free b/c if  this isn't provocation, I don't know what is.  AOL's  statement that this 'violates everything' in our customer service policy is crap.  Just one more reason to Avoid AOL like the plague

Things haven't looked too good for AOL for a while now. They shut down their Jacksonville call center a month or two ago and laid off about 1300 people.

I haven't used them for years and can't really understand why someone would want to.

That's absolutely hillarious mate!! i cannot believe he could keep his composure for as long as he did....

If you and Marshall do some speech demos that show an IVR system allowing you to cancel a service over the phone with a simple "Thank you for letting us serve you for the past x years.  Let us know if we can help you again." you'd make a million bucks on that alone!

Speaking of bad customer service have you seen this one about Comcast yet?
