Someone please tell me where I could get one of these!!!!!!!

Since it's illegal and all - I would NEVER actually purchase one, but if anyone knows where I can get one of these cell phone jammers, please let me know.  This is purely for informative purposes of course since there's some stupid law against selling, advertising or mentioning or even thinking about them.  I had heard about them before but was told it was BS and that they didn't really work.  I already checked the “Spy Store” in Miami but they told me to get lost.

Speaking of cell phones, I saw  a bumper sticker that said “Maybe you'd drive better with that cell phone shoved up your a33” which I thought was pretty cool.  We don't have any bans of talking on cell phones here in SC - at least not that I know of.  Which got me to thinking about how stupid such laws are even though I tend to agree with their intent.  I have a PDA phone, so what would stop me from writing SMS messages while driving if they banned cell phones? Just thinking about trying to SMS and drive is enough to make me cringe.   And what about that Tablet PC thingy the dude on http://www.hossweb.com has.  Sure couldn't find anything distracting to load on your Tablet PC, right?

Seems to me the Jammers are the ultimate compromise b/c if people could jam your conversations while you were driving - then you probably wouldn't bother using it in the car much would you?  And then we could do away with anti-cell phone laws and enact anti -Putting on Makeup at Red Lights laws which would probably be the single coolest law ever enacted.  Or even better, we could fund research of mirrors that emit electical shocks whenever any makeup like substance gets within 3 feet of them.    I know, I'm being sexist - but in all honestly, I've NEVER once had to sit at a light that just turned green because some DUDE was applying his mascara in mirror and didn't see that the light turned green.

Nah the DUDE was flapping his gums on the cell phone and reaching behind him to grab a CD/paper/slap some kid or some other random event. I'd want to have a jammer permanently installed in my car but directed outwards at a radius of say 100-200 ft. That way any cars near to me wouldn't have a chance of using a cell phone causing my driving experience to be 2000x more safer. Then again with all of the people slapping their phones and wondering why the signal is shot they may swerve into my lane (like they don't already do to begin with) and hit me then.

Driving is way too important for all of the distractions we constantly deal with. I've been lucky to avoid some close calls because of others neglegance, too many to count and most of which I should never have dealt with. Yet because of this I have to be a defensive driver at all times. I take extra steps I shouldn't be taking just to make sure the person next to me isn't going to slam into me because they weren't paying attention. It's not only wrong, it's nearly impossible but yet if I don't do this I could very easily die. I'd rather take those 500 extra steps than be taking a dirt nap any day. It just annoys me that this stuff is driving 101 yet these people continue to have licenses as if they do nothing wrong. Lame.

Well, I actually support slapping kids in cars. Even if the dude wrecked into me - as long as he got a good hit on the kid it'd be worth it.

I'll second that too. I'm all for smackin' children if they deserve it, but of course there's a fine line that the government loves to police (yet has no right to, I won't get into it).

If you want to find one of those, I would do web searches on a couple of the names in the article. I would suspect you'd get a hit or two about the individual or something related to them. If you find something let me know, and I'll do the same.

There's a number of hits that come back when you look for "cell phone jammer" but with the price tag it's difficult to assume any of them actually work. I wouldn't want to spend $160 for an elaborate paperweight and since they are illegal I don't think the police will be interested in prosecuting the company for fraud but I could be wrong. I'd be more interested in picking it up off "the streets of NY" where it's obvious they work than some online retailer I don't know from Adam. Then again if I could actually find the company Victor McCormack works for I'd probably go with that since the nypost did a good job of reviewing their product (well somewhat). If you do make the leap and purchase one, I'd want to know how well it works. Of course you'd have to use some kind of code or something so that po-po doesn't know what we're talkin about. From now on we can refer to it as our CB and talk like truckers.

"Bill, I'm on your 6"
"10-4"
"Is that squawkbox gold?"
"Nah it's platinum, makes you sound like a 2-bit hookah"
"Word, gotta get me one of 'dem"
