A Trip to Comp USA
There was too much cool stuff and a lot of it was quite cheap. The first thing that stuck out was that Finger Print recognizers were all over the place feaetured in displays. ALmost bought one but it looked like it only ran on XP and I usually code on a 2003 Server box. No one there could tell me if it would work or not - but more times than not it won't. Looks like with XP you can just put your finger on the thing and if it recognizes you, it will switch over to your profile and log you in. Cool.
Bought a Wireless card for my MAC. $79.99 was the cheapest. Everything for the MAC is pricey - elegant but pricey. And although I have the coolest wireless adapter box in the world, I'm not sure I'm feeling that price.
Looks like Monitors are going to be the big thing this Chirstmas. There was a 40 inch one one one of the Mac G4's, but there were a lot of other really huge ones - getting notably cheaper. Saw a DVD Player for $19.99 new. Wow.
The wireless section is about 1/10th of the store now. Looks like the integration with Tivo and Windows Media Center PC's is getting big b/c everything emphasized that. There was even an XBOX remote that was supposed to integrate your XBOX with a Media Center. No one could give me details though. As a matter of fact, the only reason I even got the wireless card was b/c someone from Apple was there that could answer my question. Comp needs to work on that.
