Interesting Book List
Published Fri, Nov 26 2004 13:33 | William
Just saw this posted on Neopoleon . Pretty interesting list of books indeed. I wish I had that much time for fiction stuff. Then again - I probably do just start feeling guilty if I go more than 6 hours without having my nose in a tech book.

Getting Spammed to death
Published Fri, Nov 26 2004 11:46 | William
I think it's time to start the prayer vigil again - the evil b43tards started it up again. So far I had to delete about 15 since last night. I guess there are still people out there that reply to obvious spam posts - wish they wouldn't but I guess the...

before I continue - let me please announce that this stuff is definitely 'not appropriate for a techncial blog'. I only mention it b/c I've gotten over 90 replies which is pretty high all things considered. Please, though, if you have a sense of humor...

TEAM System WTF?
Published Thu, Nov 25 2004 19:04 | William
Ok, first, I'm not on dial up - I have the full broadband connection. But last night around 11:30 I started to download the new http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/vs2005/teamsystem/ . Ummm, it's 6:40 the next day and it's only 70% downloaded. This can't be...

Which Villian are you? Which Gangsta are you?

Thanks to Scott for this one .. There's a lot of other quizzes but if nothing else, the background techno darth vader thing is great. I then took the Gangsta test and got this back - I don't know - the 'good' part is that this is what I got back:

Sociopathic Interviewers
Published Thu, Nov 25 2004 13:02 | William
Avonelle just posted Sociopathic Interviewers. I actually can't believe that someone would ask this - just too many good responses. However if I wanted to actually try to get the job - that would severely limit my responses. My first desired response...

Zero Defects Programming.

I really enjoyed this post. As someone who never makes coding mistakes (and never has), I'm all about zero defect programming. OUCH - those damned lightning bolts sure hurt. Ok, maybe one or two. Ouch. Ok, I'll be honest, I make them every day - and most...

Another great qoute from Edward.
Published Thu, Nov 25 2004 12:31 | William
Edward always has some great quotes in his post, but I think this may be my all time favorite: <<Declaring As Object is spiritually encouraged by the VB legacy of the Variant which as you know is the original Empty Suit, a sort of Dan Quayle variable...

Flame bait continued.

Rule #1: Never get into an argument with Frans. In all 25 of the arguments I've seen him get into - he makes total jackass3s out of the other person and I usually spend about 10 minutes laughing my a33 off afterward. Rule#2: Never get into an argument...

Someone unnamed in a group also unnamed is taking part in a VB.NET vs. C# Debate at a unnamed user's group. So he was enlisting help in coming up with slogans. This was one of the ideas as a slogan for C#: VB'ers Need not Apply I hate language wars, particularly...

Et Tu Paul Vick?

Please tell me that the Paul Vick isn't the same Paul Vick mentioned here . Unfortunately, it is . This hurts. I got nothing but love for Paul and am somewhat uncomfortable criticizing a far better man then myself. Seriously though - considering the ...

Stored Procedures vs. Dynamic SQL

I was just flipping through an old evilness of Stored Procedures on the evilness of Stored Procedures - the post is about a year old but I didn't read his blog back then. The first thing I got pissed off about is that Frans speaks better English than...

Double Encryption

Dino just posted this link about cusomters asking for double encryption . Depending on what type of encryption they are talking about, this could be really silly - a classic case of adding overhead without adding value. The key (no pun intended) factor...
