Configure Microsoft Test Manager for Video Recording

Error message:

A video recording cannot be created

Steps:

  1. Install Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1
  2. (optional) Install Visual Studio 2010 SP1 TFS Compatibility GDR (adds new features)
  3. Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 with Service Pack 1 (SP1)
  4. (on Windows Server only): Add "Desktop Experience" feature
  5. (optional) Visual Studio 2010 Feature Pack 2
    (MSDN subscribers with VS Premium or Ultimate only)
    (Not required: QFE for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Feature Pack 2)

Updates:

  • (Aug 8th, 2010) A TFS update replaced the Windows Media Encoder base video diagnostic adapter with Expression Encoder.
  • (Nov 11th, 2010) Added link to new hotfix for Microsoft Test Manager.
  • (June 1st, 2011) Updated for VS 2010 SP1.
  • (June 4th, 2011) Updated for Expression Media 4 SP1.
  • (Nov 13th, 2011) Added link to optional Compatibility GDR with new features.
