Microsoft Zune Player - Portable Media

Well Microsoft are launching a player in the portable media marketing space.

Here is a section from the press release:

Marking the next big milestone for its Connected Entertainment vision, Microsoft Corp. today unveiled details of the first products to be released under its Zune brand. Designed around the principles of sharing, discovery and community, Zune will create new ways for consumers to connect and share entertainment experiences. The Zune experience centers around connection connection to your library, connection to friends, connection to community and connection to other devices.

"The digital music entertainment revolution is just beginning," said J Allard, vice president, design and development, at Microsoft, who is leading the charge for building the family of Zune products. "With Zune, we are not simply delivering a portable device, we are introducing a new platform that helps bring artists closer to their audiences and helps people find new music and develop new social connections."

The Media Center Show - Show 72

I am a fan of the Media Center show run by fellow Microsoft MVP - Ian Dixon.

...just had a chance to catch up with his show number 72 where he talks with another Media Center MVP Bryan Socha about the current state of the Windows Media Center product.

As you may know Windows Media Center is no longer going to be a separate product from now on but will become part of the high end version of Windows Vista - Vista Ultimate.

You can catch the show here:

Ian also talks about his views on Vista...

Windows Media Player 11 - BETA 2

So Windows Media Player 11 BETA 2 has now been released!

I just LOVE the new user interface... Looks so MUCH cooler.

I am finding working with the library a lot easier to use when you have 1,000's of tracks to search through.

So what's new in this beta release compared BETA 1?

Well quite a few fixes have been made and stability seems to be a lot better now. Additional online stores are now available.

Changes to sharing digital media content. The functionality of Windows Media Connect is now integrated into Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2 for Windows XP as the new Media Sharing feature, which lets you enjoy the contents of your Windows Media Player library from anywhere in your home.

If you have a home network (wired or wireless), you can use Windows Media Player 11 to stream the contents of your library to networked devices such as Xbox 360 or other digital media receivers.

For more information, go to "More Ways To Enjoy Your Media":

Why Another Blog?

Marc Liron

...so many Blogs and so little time to read them!

I know that feeling all to well, and yet when I try and search for information on the digital media aspects of Microsoft's new operating system - Windows Vista - I can not find the kind of content I want to read all in one place.

So I figured that since I am a Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional) in Windows Digital Media that I should write a blog on this topic...

And so this blog is born.

If you can think of a more exciting name for the Blog than "Vista Digital Media" then PLEASE do let me know via my contact form:
