Something interesting I just noticed is that the static constructor of a child class isn't called when using methods in the base class. For instance:

public abstract SingletonBase {

static protected SingletonBase singleton;

static public SingletonBase Singleton { get { return singleton; } }

}

public MySingleton : SingletonBase

{

static MySingleton() { singleton = new MySingleton(); }

}

...

MySingleton mySingleton = (MySingleton)MySingleton.GetInstance();

This causes a NullReferenceException, AFAIK because the static constructor in MySingleton never executes, as there is no instance of MySingleton created in the normal program flow to trigger the MySingleton static constructor. The only way around this is to move GetInstance() to each child class, which removes the benefits of having an abstract singleton class.

I am also facing the same problem. It is returning the username under which the process is running. I have got 10 virtual directory application under Default website. The Authentication setting of Default website is set to Anonymous and Virtual Directory is set to "windows integrated authentication". Here is the setting of web.config in root folder of virtual directory

</authorization>

Any Help would be appreciated

that's because the Main method is sitting in the class as one of the static methods. therefore the static constructor is being called before the Main method.

Hi,

you are actually getting the account under which the current process is running.

WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent does not return you the logged in user name, it gives you the user name under which the current process is running

If I want to assign a variable to the current logged in user, I can't just set:

I love this little command, but for some reason it stopped working in my IDE. I type ctrl K ctrl D and nothing happens... I recently imported the visual studio settings from idesign.net, probably screwed something up. Any idea what setting would affect this?
