Snapshots are not supported with Windows DFSR

If you are running virtualized Windows Server with DFSR, snapshots are not supported as with any other Windows Multi-Master Database. DFSR does not implement USN rollback quarantine protection like Active Directory Domain Services. More details here .

DFSR failure with Windows Server 2003 R2 and 2008 R2

There is a compatibility issue in the DFSR protocol between Windows Server 2003 R2 and 2008 R2 which causes replication from Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2003 R2 to fail. Microsoft released a hotfix here under MSKB 2462352
