Pdfmaker dot dot was causing hassles for me this morning.
Found this interesting. I have been working all night on a Windows 2000 Pro accounting PC that is also the main machine for the MICR check printing at this client's. As I was wrapping up the parallel install of Win 2k on the computer Office 2000 SP3 kept failing from the Office Updates site. In an attempt to work around it I installed Office 2000 SR1-a, SP2 and SP3 from my TechNet Premium DVD (copied the files to the clientapps directory on the SBS box). Strange thing was the Office Updates site still showed 2k SP3 needing to be installed and still failing.
I then opened a new document in Word and received "Compile error in hidden module: AutoExec" each time I attempted to create the new doc. Deleted the normal.dot to no avail.
Googled it and came up with http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307410/ and the answer to my dilema! The Pdfmaker.dot file was right where the KB said and as soon as I moved it both the error cleared up and SP3 installed from the Office Updates site and actually showed it was installed! After working on this machine all night gettting it back online for the accounting team to use today, this makes my morning!
Below is the section that worked for me today. Now I'm thinking back to all the failed Office Service Packs I have had happen over the years and am wondering if Adobe was behind the frustration all along. Either way, I am glad I get to leave here this morning! :-)
