actually they're quite different...

one is an authentication technology that aims to recognize what you sound like (your voice)... the other is a user input technology that aims to recognize what you're saying (your speech)...

I'm with Sandi.  That text was almost certainly done by a human, likely stenographer, unfamiliar with the terms newsgroups and forums.  

I've seen those folks in operation at various events in the past such as political forums.  I'm quite impressed with how good a job they do.
