Problems with SiteMeter crashing Internet Explorer
I'm sure many of you have heard by now that SiteMeter made some changes to their tracking code, which led to their site counter crashing Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (and 5.5?). SiteMeter updated their code to fix the problem, but a side effect of the fix is, apparently, that the SiteMeter icon does not appear on web pages.
The worst of this incident is pretty much over now bar the shouting, but I do have to ask...
Why the heck didn't SiteMeter test their code changes before going live???
That, gentle reader, is what all this boils down to.
I don't expect those behind SiteMeter to have known of the existence of the bug described in MS KB927917, but I *do* expect them to test changes before sending them live.
