FIX: Windows Mail - email stuck in outbox

Two updates have been released, one for Vista and one for Vista x64 - both require validation.

This update apparently resolves an issue where messages become stuck in the Outbox and cannot be deleted when using Windows Mail. After you install this update, you may have to restart your computer.

Well how about that!  You don't know how glad I am you posted this, Sandi.  I was about to delete the accounts I had set up in Windows Mail and re-create them, thinking they had become corrupt.

Two problems:  1.) Sent messages stuck in outbox, and can,t be moved or removed.

                         2.) Accumulation of stuck messages in outbox appears to cause a blockage of any transmitted messages, and we ar essentially out of business as far initiating or responding to mail.

Any other ideas when I went to download it told me it was not for my version of vista and I'm running 32

and a utility for removing 0 byte files from your mailbox. I think try the Microsoft Fix and then this utility if you're still stuck.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, MICROSOFT SAID THIS DOWNLOAD WAS NOT FOR MY VISTA.  FINALLY, I WENT TO OUTBOX, THE STUCK EMAIL CAME UP, AND I CLICKED DELETE.  SIMPLE.  WHY DIDN'T MICROSOFT TELL US THAT.

The issue discussed here is where messages become stuck in the Outbox and **cannot be deleted** when using Windows Mail.

Therefore, the very fact that you could delete your message indicates that you were not affected by the problem addressed by the update.  

As for Microsoft not telling anybody that we can delete emails from the Outbox, well, at risk of sounding unkind, they shouldn't need to tell us something so... basic.

BTW, typing in all capitals is considered to be !!!SHOUTING!!! when corresponding online.

Pop Ups keeps saying email is stuck in outbox. I want them deleted as soon as possible. Help!

Just got a new laptop with windows vista home installed from new.

Configured Winows Mail to my btinternet.com email.

There it was this horrible SPAM email that wouldnt delete from my INBOX (not outbox)...Tried various 'updates' but none were required for my system! Therefore the horrible email remained in my widows mail...That was until, I came accross this website.

Tried the recommended install/update for msg's stuck in OUTBOX, not holding much hope!

But hey presto, it bloody worked!!!

I must ask someone (Sandi?)...I haven't tried the "stuck email" fix yet but what I would like to know is does the path of emails go from SENT ITEM to OUTBOX or the other way around? How can I be sure, aside from a response from someone, that the message was actually sent? And what is the purpose of OUTBOX anyway?

Really, I'm not shouting with the caps...I just don't have any other way to highlight words.

Thanks for any thoughts.
