Can you help? ie-vista reader asks for help with Flash buttons
I received this email overnight; it says:
"I have been working on a website for a small company in the Isle of Skye, The website i have been working on is online but when viewing it in IE7, the sound files that are all on one page (4 of them, mp3's) dont seem to be working, they work fine in Firefox.
Bellow is the code for the Flash Button wich when youu click you should hear the sound, but for some reason it wont work in IE7, so i really hope you can look at the bit of code for me and tell me if its an error i have done or if there is anyway of fixing it."

The affected web site is here:
http://www.tobarandualchais.co.uk/eng/john-the-bard.html
You can see the buttons in the midst of the text on the web site following the words "Please click here..."
The buttons work on my XP system with IE7, albeit slowly - there is quite a delay before the soundtracks starts playing. I've also noticed that if you click the button more than once, which visitors may do because of the delay before the sound plays, then the soundtrack will play multiple times, overlaying itself, and there is no way to stop the soundtrack apart from closing the Web page.
So, my questions would be:
- Is anybody else having trouble loading the soundtracks when using IE7? Make sure you give it several minutes before assuming it's not working - there's no visual feedback to let you know if there something is happening in the background or not.
- How would you add some sort of visual feedback so that the visitor can see that something is going on in the background.
- How would you stop the soundtrack from playing multiple times, at the same time, if a visitor clicks the button more than once.
I have absolutely no idea what steps my correspondent should take to fix these problems, so I am hoping that one of my kind readers will be able to assist.
