Run IE7 and IE6 side by side using a pre-activated VPC image as supplied by Microsoft

Microsoft have released a VPC virtual machine image containing a pre-activated Windows XP SP2, IE6 and the IE7 Readiness Toolkit to help facilitate testing and development.

It is important to note that the image is time bombed and will no longer function after April 1, 2007.

We can install now IE7 on our main machine for development and testing, and run IE6 simultaneously in a VPC on the same computer with no need to purchase an additional Windows license.

The download is available here - note that the downloading system must pass Genuine Windows Validation:

The image will run in VPC2004, and VPC2007 (which is in beta and supports Windows Vista).  VPC2007 can be downloaded at connect.microsoft.com - you will need a Passport account to access the site:

After you have logged in you will be able to access the Connect site and download the beta.
