IE7 - will it be installed automatically on SBS2003 R2 systems running WSUS in its default configuration?
It seems the answer is no.
My understanding (Hi Susan) is that Update rollups are not a category that is auto approved by SBS...
The answer I received from MS is as follows.
"IE7, including WSUS packages, will be high-priority which means it will be automatically selected on the WU/MU site and downloaded through AU.
However, it’s my understanding that WSUS admins choose to automatically approve updates based on their classification, of which ‘high-priority’ isn’t an option. The choices are:
- Connectors
- Critical Updates
- Definition Updates
- Development Kits
- Feature Packs
- Guidance
- Security Updates
- Service Packs
- Tools
- Update Rollups
- Updates
‘High-priority’ describes the behavior of the update once approved. The IE7 package for WSUS will be an ‘Update Rollup’ so once it’s approved by the WSUS admin, which will happen automatically if they’ve selected to auto-approve ‘Update Rollups’, it will behave like a high-priority update."
I'll update this blog as required if further information comes in.
