Company must pay penalty for popups

Good!!

"A software security company that became infamous for bombarding online consumers with intimidating pop-up ads and "free scans" of a user's computer has agreed to reimburse customers and pay the state $190,000 in penalties.

SoftwareOnline.com, a Sammamish-based Web site, advertised its Registry Cleaner and InternetShield programs using pop-ups, pop-unders, dialogue boxes and chat dialogue boxes, all the while misrepresenting the "close" or "x" buttons that would normally be clicked to shut down an advertisement."
