Firefox 3.5.6 works in Expression Web 3 SuperPreview

The Expression Web Team blog blogged last month about a Firefox bug their customers encountered using SuperPreview with Firefox version 3.5.5. With the newest release of Firefox 3.5.6, the Mozilla team has fixed the bug. They recommend that you update to this latest version of Firefox 3.5 to use it again in SuperPreview.

Expression Web 3 crashes while starting up on Windows XP SP3

When launching Expression Web 3 after a successful installation, Expression Web 3 may crash with the following error dialog:

“Microsoft Expression Web 3 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

Expression Web 3 Service Pack 1 Now Available

Microsoft Expression Web 3 Service Pack 1 (SP1) contains significant fixes and improvements in publishing, SuperPreview, file management, extensibility, and other areas of the program. You can get a more complete description of SP1, including a list of issues that were fixed, in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 976594: Description of the Microsoft Expression Web 3 Service Pack 1. SP1 includes improvements developed as a result of user input from Microsoft Connect, such as support for custom Windows colors, improved text selection, and better performance.

Why doesn't Expression Web SuperPreview work with Firefox 3.5.5 on Windows XP?

Apparently Firefox 3.5.5 includes a change that broke the ability of 3^rd party applications, such as SuperPreview, to embed Firefox on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Those affected by this issue will see the error text: "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." Expression Web SuperPreview for Internet Explorer is a free stand-alone visual debugging tool that makes it faster and easier to migrate your sites from Internet Explorer 6 to Internet Explorer 7 or 8. Microsoft Sets Silverlight 3, Expression 3 Launch Event for July 10, 2009

According to eWeek, Microsoft has set July 10 as the date for a launch event for version 3 of its Silverlight Rich Internet Application (RIA) technology and version 3 of the company's Expression design tools. In a "Save the Date" invitation, Microsoft announced the July 10 date as a launch event for Silverlight 3 and Expression 3, calling on prospective attendees to come and "see for yourself how Microsoft is helping teams light up Web experiences." Although the Microsoft invite said the launch event will be held "in the Bay Area," at 10 a.m. on July 10, it also said that further details would follow.

Windows Mobile Facebook Application update

Microsoft has released an update to their Facebook application for Windows Mobile. Some users have been having problems with installation and a new copy of the app has been posted. This version should help anyone that was getting the “cannot install due to insufficient privileges” error and it should also help with some hanging errors. The Windows Mobile Blog Team says “You’ll want to uninstall the old application and then make sure that the facebook.vol and fbmail.vol files are deleted from your root directory before reinstalling. You can get the new .cab file at the download center or from your phone.”

Facebook Mobile from Microsoft - how it's the same as and different from the desktop version

I just found this great post at MobilityMinded that walks you through the desktop version of Facebook and then the Microsoft Mobile Facebook application that shows you what's the same and what's different.

I installed it last night and have found a couple differences so far:

when you click on a friend's status update, there's no option to "Like" it
when you click on a status update, whether your own or a friend's, you only see the last comment posted.

I'm going to keep poking around to see if there's something I'm missing. If you have found these options, could you let me know?

Microsoft’s Windows Mobile Facebook software featurelist revealed

Microsoft has developed their own facebook client software for Windows Mobile, and early builds have been in the wild for some time now.

It seems the final version will be made available pretty soon to all comers, and Microsoft has revealed the full feature list at Windowsmobiletraining.com.

The software will support:

Profile – View your profile, update status, write on wall, add photos and videos, and send messages

News feeds – Compose, view, reply and delete items

Status updates – View, update and change picture

Photos and videos – Upload and view pictures, people tag, geo tag, auto upload to Facebook, read photo details, and make comments. The application will be the only version on the market offering the ability to upload video right from the phone.

Wall – Post and delete items

Friends profile – Invite, comment on status, view full profile, and email, SMS or call from profile

Email – View, send and reply

Notifications – View, poke and accept notifications

Requests – Confirm friend requests and invites

I can’t wait!

Microsoft Fix it BLOG : Microsoft Fix it Gadget and Solutions Website is Now Available!

The Microsoft Fix it team has just released two new tools to help partners and customers find Microsoft Fix it information and track solutions. The first tool is a Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget that displays download stats and related solution assets for Fix it solutions such as Knowledge Base articles or Windows Error Reporting responses and allows the user to filter by product as well as search for Fix it solutions.

Direct links to the Fix it Blog, Fix it Facebook, and E-mail contact are also provided.

The second tool is the Fix it Solutions page, a companion website to the Fix it Gadget for users who do not have the ability to use Sidebar Gadgets. The Fix it Solutions page provides all of the functions and features found in the Fix it Gadget and can be used with most popular browsers.
