It's going to snow tomorrow: ... A Winter Storm Warning in effect from noon Saturday to noon Sunday... The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a Winter Storm Warning. Snow will move in Saturday afternoon and will continue Saturday night. The snow will taper off Sunday morning. Final snow accumulations will be 10 to 15 inches by Sunday morning. In addition to the snow... northeast winds will increase Saturday afternoon... and will be gusty Saturday night. Strong northerly winds will persist Sunday morning. These winds will result in some blowing and drifting of snow.
“The biggest snowstorm of the year” From the NBC30 Storm Center: Overnight, wind chill advisories are in effect for the Northwest hills. During Saturday (noon) until Sunday (noon) Blizzard Warnings are in effect for Southern Connecticut. Winter Storm Warnings & Heavy Snow Warnings are up for interior Connecticut, where we expected near blizzard conditions to occur. A blizzard is a storm of snow & wind & cold that meets the following criterion: heavy snow, visibility less than 1/4 mile for 3 hours or more, along with winds gusting to at least 35 mph during this timeframe. Deep snow will accumulate statewide by Sunday morning, perhaps the biggest storm since January 1996! NE-N winds on Sunday morning gusting to 40 mph, may create tremendous blowing & drifting. Stay with NBC 30 for wall to wall coverage of this major Winter storm.
