Silent Runners Update (R41)
Silent Runners R41 adds a new section for Print Monitors and fixes a
bug when checking for the Session Manager\BootExecute value. It is
recommended that you download Silent Runners R41 and delete earlier
versions.
Print Monitors
--------------
Print Monitor "driver" values are found in the subkeys of:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
Print Monitors enable communication with the printer. Such
communication can be bidirectional (if the printer supports it) and
can allow the printer to send unsolicited messages to the client. At
least one adware critter exploits this location:
http://tinyurl.com/boap8
and I can confirm that print monitors are launched at Windows startup.
BootExecute Bug
-------------------
The value is now confirmed to exist before it is tested.
The launch points list on the web site has been updated.
