If you read the Installation guide for SQL Server 2005 you will find a warning about not installing it via Terminal Services. Heed that warning! It may not give you an error but there may be strange errors popping up down the line. Found out that the SQL Server I was trying to use for my TFS install was installed via Terminal Services and I kept getting install errors. Once I reinstalled SQL using a direct connection everything worked fine.
