It works fine now!

But make sure you don't add ".exe" extension for stsadm

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\BIN>stsadm –o upgrade –forceupgrade

A very common prescan problem that stops you from doing your upgrade

I have gotten the same email from several people and the fix has been the same just about every time

Had a similar problem. WSUS installed SP2 on our SharePoint server and the result was that we could not create new areas at all.

We were getting the following error...

"An error has occurred in the portal site. Contact the portal site administrator for assistance."

Ran the stsadm.exe –o upgrade –forceupgrade from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\BIN> and still the problem persists. Please help
