How do I find out when my MOSS trial expires?

So you downloaded the SharePoint trial a while ago and now you are starting to wonder when does it expire? Where do you look for this information? Well, the kind folks at Microsoft made it fairly easy to find out.

  1. Navigate to SharePoint Central Administration v3.0
  2. Go to the Application Management tab
  3. Under Office SharePoint Server Shared Services click Check services enabled in this farm

Now what do you see?

There should be a warning next to Licensing that says The trial installation on server <server name> will expire on <date time>.

How do I update from MOSS trial to MOSS Standard or Enterprise?

Ok so you figured out when you product expires, now what? Well, call your sales rep and buy MOSS of course. J Once you have a valid license key you need to update your software. To do that.

  1. Navigate to SharePoint Central Administration v3.0
  2. Go to the Operations tab
  3. Under Upgrade and Migration click Convert license type

  1. Now enter you product key

Notice on this screen that it says Current License it says Office SharePoint Server Trial with Enterprise Client Access License.

One of my fellow MVPS inspired this nice little reference guide. He was quite frustrated by the fact that under Check Services Enabled in this Farm he didn't see when his trial expired. Well, when I sent him to the Convert License Type screen he found his mistake. He had already licensed the server. Whoops!

How do you do this if the trial license *has* already expired [I have an enterprise lic]?

I have the beta version installed, and the trial period has ended. I would like to install the full version (with enterprise license) but keep the configuration as they are now. I can't even enter now the Central Administration page just to write them down.

I want to convert sharepoint 2007 from Trial version to  Full version. I already have sharepoint key. when i go to  SharePoint Central Administration v3.0 -> Application Management tab -> Office SharePoint Server Shared Services -> Check services enabled in this farm it display:

Licensing: The trial installation on server PBAD-MOSS will expire on 7/6/2009 11:59:59 PM.

but when i Go to the Operations tab

-> Under Upgrade and Migration and then -> Convert license type it shows

Current License : "Project Server 2007 Trial"

I put sharepoint key in Enter Product Key  textbox but it says invalid key.

I want to know why it shows "Project Server 2007 Trial" instead of "Office SharePoint Server Trial with Enterprise Client Access License".
