Forefront TMG URL Filtering Telemetry Package

Microsoft hat heute für die aktuelle Beta 3 von Forefront TMG ein URL Filtering Telemetry Package veröffentlicht. Dieses Feature, welches spätestens in der endgültigen Version von TMG enthalten sein soll, hilft, die URL Datenbank, die vom Microsoft Reputation Service (MRS) gepflegt wird zu verbessern. Neben Daten aus den kommerziellen Listen von Marshal8e6 und BrightCloud werden anonymisierte Daten der TMG-Installationen einbezogen, sofern dort das Paket installiert und entsprechend konfiguriert wurde.

Forefront Threat Management Gateway Beta 3 verfuegbar

Seit heute ist die Beta 3 von TMG öffentlich verfügbar. Beim Forefront User Group Treffen am 02. Juli werden Christian und ich damit ausführlich arbeiten.

[TechEd] Forefront TMG Beta 3 - Ausblick

Heute habe ich auf der TechEd unter anderem die Session “SIA302 Access and Protection: A Technical Preview and Deep Dive of the Next Generation of Microsoft ISA Server” besucht, die von David Cross und Yigal Edery aus dem Forefront-Team gehalten wurde.

Das besonders coole daran war, dass ich nun über alles schreiben/reden darf, was von den beiden gezeigt wurde ;-) Mein NDA verhindert ansonsten, über Funktionen etc. zu reden, die noch nicht öffentlich sind. Und TMG befindet sich ja bekanntlich in der Beta-Phase. Derzeit aktuell öffentlich verfügbar ist die Beta 2.

In einigen/wenigen Wochen wird die Beta 3 öffentlich verfügbar sein. Die soll angeblich Feature-complete sein, und im Vergleich zur Beta 2 über folgende zusätzliche Features verfügen:

Unterstützung für SSTP (Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol)
URL Filterung für ausgehenden Webverkehr
Suche innerhalb des Regelwerks
Gruppieren von Firewallrichtlinien

Microsoft Network Monitor 3.2 beta verfuegbar

Für ein vernünftiges Troubleshooting ist er inzwischen unverzichtbar: Der Microsoft Network Monitor. Das Tool wird ständig weiterentwickelt und seit ein paar Tagen ist die Beta der Version 3.2 verfügbar.

Where are the bits?

As usual we are hosting our beta at http://connect.microsoft.com under the Network Monitor 3 Project. If you are already signed up, you should have it listed on the main page. If not, look for the project and join up with us to help us find bugs.

What’s New since Netmon 3.1

Process Tracking: View all the processes on your machine generating network traffic (process name and PID). Use the conversation tree to view frames associated with each process.
Find conversations: Quickly isolate frames in the same network conversation. Isolate TCP streams, HTTP flows etc.
PCAP capture file support
Capture engine re-architecture to improve capture rate in high-speed networks. Network Monitor 3.2 drops significantly fewer frames that NM3.1
Extensive parser set: Parsers for over 300 protocols! Parsers for the protocols covered by the Windows Open Protocol Specifications (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc216517.aspx).
NM API: Create your own applications that capture, parser and analyze network traffic!
Better parser management: By default only a subset of parsers are loaded. You can load the full parser set by changing the parser search order in Tools>Options>Parser
Support for frame truncation. Go to Tools>Options and limit the number of bytes captured per frame to improve performance.
More extensive documentation of the NPL which includes documentation on the new NMAPI. Access the documentation from Help > NPL and API Documentation
Enhanced filtering on items within NPL while loops or arrays. You can specify an index into the array or while loop to filter on
IA64 version now available.
ContainsBin Plug-in: Search frames for arbitrary byte sequences or strings. For example, ContainsBin(FrameData, ASCII, “msn”).
More UI indications of conversation status, dropped frames and the number of frames in the capture buffer.

Informationen zur naechsten Generation von Forefront Security fuer Exchange Server

Das Forefront-Team hat in seinem Blogeintrag von gestern erste Informationen zur nächsten Version von Forefront Security für Exchange Server veröffentlicht.

Neu ist unter anderem die Integration in die ebenfalls neue Konsole mit dem Codename "Stirling" und Powershell Unterstützung. Alles weitere findet ihr erstmal in dem Blogeintrag. Natürlich werde ich hier künftig meine Erfahrungen etc. rund um die Beta schreiben, sofern die Infos öffentlich sind.

Infos zur naechsten ISA Server Generation

Seit heute sind nun einige Informationen rund um die neu Forefront-Generation (Codename "Stirling") verfügbar. Unter dem Arbeitstitel Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) wird an der nächsten Version von ISA Server gearbeitet.

We have been very busy for the past year and we also have been fairly quiet on the messaging front of our plans. Well, the time is over, and I am excited to say that we can announce what we have been up to! Today we (publicly) announced our next-generation network security product, the Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG), a comprehensive network protection solution. Forefront TMG is the future version of the Microsoft Internet Security & Acceleration Server (ISA Server) and will extend the capabilities of ISA Server with new features and security technologies. I know many of you have loved and embraced the ISA Server name and brand for a long time – but it is time for new naming, new logos, blogs, books and of course new technology directions.

Forefront TMG will be available as both a standalone solution but also part of new integrated suites to be released in the future such as the Microsoft Windows Essential Business Server, the recently announced server solution designed for mid-sized companies due out later this year as well as the Forefront “Stirling” suite announced today, a unified protection solution that combines Forefront client, server, and edge security solutions with a single management and policy layer. A “first look” preview of Stirling Beta 1 was shown at RSA this week. It is also available for download.

Why am I so excited about this announcement? To begin, it is the first version of ISA Server that will fully support the Windows Vista and Server 2008 platforms. It also will natively support the 64-bit Windows Server platform which provides significant scalability and security capabilities to the Threat Management Gateway. The three other main areas of enhancement we are announcing today are the following:

Multiple Threat Protection: We will enable numerous new protection technologies and capabilities, including integration of the Microsoft Anti-Virus Engine for protection against Internet-based malware and other threats. As part of Stirling, Forefront TMG will also include the “Dynamic Response” functionality to enable shared intelligence and response. This is a major step forward in how our customers rely upon the Microsoft gateway for protection and access to the Internet.
Simplified Management: Forefront TMG will include new set-up wizards, improved management interface and enhanced reporting. As part of the Stirling suite, Forefront TMG will be part of the Stirling central visibility dashboard and policy control.
Secure Connectivity: Forefront TMG will build on current ISA Server capability around secure Internet access and other connectivity features.

More details about the features in Forefront TMG will be available with the public beta scheduled for the second half of 2008. I wish I could share more details and plans now, but that will come with time. I promise to personally keep you updated as our plans and product evolve to keep you updated here. We really look forward to your feedback on our plans and our first beta. I am sure you will be as excited as we are in finally announcing this next generation of our network security product line. Stay tuned to this channel!

[Beta] Internet Explorer 8 in Deutsch

Nun kann er auch auf Deutsch heruntergeladen werden.

[Beta] Microsoft Forefront Integration Kit for Network Access Protection

Auf dem Solution Accelerators - Security & Compliance-Blog fand ich einen Blogbeitrag zu einem Microsoft Forefront Integration Kit for Network Access Protection.

The Microsoft Forefront Integration Kit for Network Access Protection (NAP) provides software components that allow you to integrate NAP and Forefront Client Security. A network administrator can use these components to establish a system health policy that NAP uses to determine whether client computers that run Forefront Client Security comply with the policy before they are allowed access to network resources. The Kit will also provide instructions on how to install the components and configure the system health policy for Forefront Client Security.

What are the benefits?

Boosts security. The Kit strengthens your malware defenses by integrating two key Microsoft security technologies: Forefront Client Security and Network Access Protection.
Saves time and reduces IT costs. The Kit’s system health validator (SHV) allows you to quickly establish health policies for Forefront Client Security installations on all network clients. The system health agent (SHA) automatically monitors the health of these installations network-wide, and remediates problems—freeing up scarce IT resources for other tasks.
Easy to deploy. You can install and configure the Kit in just a couple of hours.

Where do I access the beta?

To learn more about the Kit, sign in to the Microsoft Connect Web site. Or, to join the beta program, click here and complete the beta program survey. Note that you may have to register to get access to the Connect site. You will be notified once you are given access to the beta Web site and can download the beta release. Be aware that in order to deploy the SHA and SHV from this kit, you will need to have NAP and Forefront Client Security deployed. I recommend that you read the Release Notes for the latest beta release information.

Aktualisierter Firewallclient als Beta verfuegbar

Seit dem 12.12.2006 ist eine aktualisierte Version des Firewallclients (4.0.3442.654) als Öffentliche Betaversion zum herunterladen verfügbar.

Die besondere Neuerung dabei ist, dass erstmals auch Windows Vista als Clientbetriebssystem unterstützt wird.

Übersicht

Firewallclient für ISA Server kann optional auf Clientcomputern installiert werden, die durch Microsoft ISA Server geschützt sind. Firewallclient für ISA Server bietet mehr Sicherheit, erweiterte Anwendungsunterstützung und verbesserte Zugriffskontrolle für Clientcomputer. Außerdem ermöglicht Firewallclient für ISA Server die Authentifizierung für Winsock-Anwendungen, die TCP und UDP verwenden, unterstützt komplexe sekundäre Protokolle und liefert Benutzer- und Anwendungsinformationen für die ISA Server-Protokolle.

Wenn ein Clientcomputer, auf dem Firewallclient für ISA Server ausgeführt wird, eine Anforderung sendet, wird das Ziel von der Firewallclientsoftware überprüft, und externe Anforderungen werden an den ISA Server-Computer zur Verarbeitung weitergeleitet. Es wird keine spezielle Routinginfrastruktur benötigt. Der Firewallclient sendet transparent mit jeder Anforderung Benutzerinformationen. Dadurch können Sie auf dem ISA Server-Computer Firewallrichtlinien mit Regeln erstellen, bei denen die vom Client vorgelegten Anmeldeinformationen für die Authentifizierung verwendet werden. ISA Server ermöglicht das Konfigurieren der automatischen Erkennung für Firewallclientcomputer. Dabei wird ein WPAD-Eintrag in DNS oder DHCP verwendet, um je nach Standort die richtigen Webproxyeinstellungen für Clients abzurufen.

Microsoft Network Monitor 3 Beta 2 verfuegbar

Wer den Netzwerkmonitor von Windows Server 2003 kennt und nutzt wird sich sicherlich freuen zu hören, dass eine neue Version in Arbeit ist. Derzeit ist die Beta 2 des Microsoft Netzwerkmonitor 3 öffentlich verfügbar.

Um Zugang zur Beta zu bekommen, einfach die folgenden Schritte durchführen:

Melde Dich mit Deinem Passport Account an
Auf der linken Seite "Verfügbare Verbindungen" auswählen (wer auch immer die Übersetzung gemacht hat.....)
Ganz unten neben Network Monitor 3.0 auf "bewerben" klicken und die angeforderten Daten ausfüllen.
Nachdem eure Bewerbung akzeptiert wurde, könnt ihr auf die Download Seite gehen (Meine Beteilingen -> Network Monitor 3 -> Downloads) und dort die Installationsfiles herunterladen

Internet Explorer 7 RC1 in deutsch verfuegbar

Ab sofort kann die deutsche Version des Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) für Windows XP heruntergeladen werden. Der Browser läuft unter Windows XP SP2, Windows XP 64-bit Edition und Windows Server 2003 SP1. Eine Deinstallations-Funktion im Setup entfernt frühere Beta-Versionen des Browsers und vereinfacht dadurch die Installation. Dieses Jahr noch soll die finale Version über das Automatische Update zur Verfügung stehen oder separat heruntergeladen werden können.

Für mich sind neben den Sicherheitsverbesserungen zwei neue Feature des IE 7 besonders hilfreich: Die Tabs und die Möglichkeit, Webseiten vernünftig zu drucken.
