Something very irritating just happened. We have a rack server with Hosting365 running Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005 etc. and have had it for over 2 years I'd say.
For the last day or so our rack server has been down/unresponsive. As this also hosts my mailserver, I couldn't e-mail Hosting365 for support.
We spoke to three Polish tech support people using Hosting365's online/live chat, each of whom said that they'd pass on our request to the engineers to have our server rebooted.
(I assumed it had just blue-screened or somesuch)
We telephoned them to find out the story as it's still not up. According to another Polish person, they turned off our server "because we have no billing profile for you".
So, instead of telephoning or e-mailing us to ask/warn us, they just cut the power to the server.
When we mentioned that this was outrageously poor service we were told that they were getting rid of those servers soon anyway.
What the *** was that about? Over two years with a rack server there, and plenty of other websites, and most of our domain registrations with them and they just pull the plug without warning.
And without a real/proper reason either!
So when the server booted back up, I was of course greeted with the dialog asking me why the server was shutdown unexpectedly.
I hope we didn't have any data loss!
I'm moving to RackSpace.
