In my case (Windows 7 RTM) stopping windows update before the setup helped (windows update locked some files)

Have you checked the install logs on your tem dir to see what's the problem?

My installation fails, the reg key from the begining is 12.0.4518.1066, and still fails.

It would only be there if any web designer tools had been previously installed, I guess.

I don't see web designer tools folder in my registry edit.I am using windows xp professional. Do I have to install anything?

(Sorry for the late reply)

The dd_depcheck_VS_VSTS_90.txt file on the temp dir tells you where on the registry is the value. For me, it was HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Web Designer Tools\1033\InstalledVersion.

I just changed 12.0.4518.1064 to 12.0.4518.1066 and it's working.
