Thanks a lot. Worked perfectly. Seems like a very common problem.
Thanks nice notes
It worked....thanks so much!!!!!!!!!
It's a magic bullet - things get a whole lot easier when you know where to look.
Nothing like MOPM trying to reference a machine over a WAN EVERY time I was trying to view an image.
My saviour :-) I had opened a few pics to edit on a pc elsewhere on my home network, and when on my office network it seemed like someone had poured treacle into the gubbins if I wanted to use Picture manager. Sure enough, the cag file contained MRU entries for the home network locations that don't exist on the office network.
Why don't M$ tell people about this? Their KB sucks.
Thanks a million! This has been bothering me a lot and this helped immediately!
I get all the way to the OIScatalog.cag file but I cant open it.

Opened with Notepad
Deleted bad mru paths.
Works perfectly now.

Thanks a lot !, it worked :)
I'm having the same problem with Picture Manager being extremely slow if I have the computer connected to the Internet. It's fine if I unplug it from the Internet. I followed the instructions above and I can find the OIScatalog.cag file anywhere on my harddrive.
Do you have any suggestions?
thanks in advance.
I can't find on MSDN the download for JET
How random, glad you guys were here.
Thanks a lot guys. It helped me a lot. i have first tried to register msxml3.dll and msxml6.dll but that did not work.
after registering ole32.dll and msrdo20.dll, it worked perfedtly.
thanks again for great idea....
Thanks for the awesome tip!
Under Vista/O2K7, it's under:
C:\Users\<Profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OIS

Where is the file location of the pst file?
I have uninstalled 2007 beta and now I cannot file the file.
Hi, the default file is "outlook.pst", just import it or attached it. Please see Warning Header of this post.
Just goes to show that Microsoft really is the best software company in the world.
Great ...............
Thanks it worked for me also.
I can't find the Local Setting folder/directory under Document and Setting.
I have Window XP Media Center Edition.
Thanks for any help I can get.
Steve
Just Activate Show Hiden Files and Folderrs in the Folder Optios - Tab View
I edited the OIScatalog.cag file and saved it but the MRU links to the network folder kept reappearing in the .cag file. Strange... I deleted the OIScatalog.cag file and when the new .cag file was created by the program, again it contained MRU links to the network folder. Solution found was to delete files existing in the thumbnail folder. After that the network MRU links never appeared again and Picture Manager opening is very fast.
....in case anyone has similiar problem.
Thanks guys, worked fine..
Thank you thank you thank you..... I was going nuts!!!
The specified folder only contains the Toolbars.dat file, and no such aforementioned file, and it is still slow.
It is slow on 2 diff computers... is it possible a recent hotfix within the past month have caused residual effects?
Add me to the list of happy customers.
Many thanks.
I finally found the OIScatalog.cag file in
Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OIS
Win XP pro.......
Worked for me, my Outlook 2003 uses word 2003 as the text editor and all of a sudden they did not play nice, registered these two files and everything is back to normal
Thanks A LLLot!

I deleted all the text in the OIScatalog.cag and it is working perfect now. Than you for this great tip. It opens now at the speed of light..
How about Outlook 2007? I can't find his manifest.:-(
I did this, but the file "OPA11.DAT" returned again.
Thank you.
If you do the rigth thing it wotks, maybe it is not the same problem. Try to run the WGA Tool from Micrsoft and see if you do not have a Bloked VLK.

Great tip Thanks.
I had removed a computer from a domain and the previous path no longer existed. Rather than removing "mru path", which were all correct, I removed the incorrect "collection paths".
Thank you for your Feedback. I Will change ASAP.
Nice sample

OMG! I found it and it now works!!!! Hallelujah!
WOWOWOWOWOWOW - Copied the .cag file first (and put in a folder) then looked it in Notepad. My next question was, . . well which line do i get rid off?? Took a change (as i had a orginal back up - hidden away) and deleted the top line - WOWOWOWOW lighting fast now!! Does anyone have the same problem with 'My Pictures' from the Start button? Thank you boys and girls XXXXX Kisses to all!
Oh superb - thank you!!
Spectacular! Rename the OIScatalog file first as a back-up. I deleted every MRU line other than where my pictures are normally stored.
worked wonders thanx, zim
Worked!!! Thanks so much Joao maaaaaan...
Thank you very much now my e-mail works:
1. Click Start, click Run, type the following command in the Open box, and then click OK:
Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
Thanks.
Very useful and easy to implement.
Michael

Doesn't look like that fixes this Issue in Windows Vista. It takes forever to open a jpg on a network resource.
Hi Tim, If you are having problems in opening a JPG from a folder in your network share, please refer to "Windows Slow Network Shares Troubleshooter". Please keep in touch if you resolve the problem, Thanks

Thank you very kindly
Brilliant. Thank you so much. Unfortunately. I will have to edit this file every time I send photographs across my network, in case the target computer is turned off!
This was a gr8 help
Thanks man!!!!! Perfect!
It opened right away!!!!!!!!!
Cheers!!!!!
How would you add a win32 extractor file to Access 2007 deployment package and make it istall automatically?
Once can find "OIScatalog.cag" in C:\Documents and Settings\user-name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OIS folder under Windows XP Professional.
Delete all "<mru path>" tags from the file and Picture Manager just files like anything..!!
But unfortunate thing is that everytime, you use a network path and disconnect the machine from the network, you have to edit the above file.
OK, looks like the problem presist after delete the MRU Paths, i will make a FIX for this.
Working...
OK FIX Beta is at:

An even quicker fix (on XP), just delete (or rename) the OIScatalog.cag file, no need to edit it as Picture Manager will recreate it next time it starts. Good Job :-)
Thank you very much...now working for me
excellent piece of code
Thanks! I looked all over for this and you gave a perfectly succinct example. Bravo!
Every time I hear any news about the next version of Office, I do a search for office integration with .NET .. to get that “wow, something new feeling about Office”.. it has been a long time since Office 95 for NT and cross app VBA. Even OpenOffice has Python & Java in addition to VB.
As a professional developer working in the front-office of an Investment Bank it is woeful .NET has not been added.. VSTO does not count because DLL deployments with COM interop have to be packaged tested and deployed using a process designed for the MDAC version disaster.
thanks... worked like a charm!!!
Worked - thanks
Thanks. MS can be so stupid sometime. I've been trying to figure out how to do this since I upgraded to 2007. This was easy in 2003....
Your a legend.Works like a dream now. Thanks a mill.
As our business grows, our customers expect to be greeted with professionalism.
Thanks, I just needed to do this real quick, and I have never used access before.
CRM Solutions improve customer relationships by automating & managing call center calls using Telescript. Predictive dialer and telemarketing software ...do a lot of the same thing.
Worked but I should be able to move pics across networks without the hassle of a breadcrumb trail haunt. Weak code....no reason for the remnant....peace. CT USA
Thanks a lot. It works now!!!!
I hv a ghost image of my earlier installatn and extracted the OPA11.Dat and bak. I did a fresh install after a crash and copied the 2 files and replaced that 2 files and it worked like magic.
Thanks a whole lot for sharing this.
Great solution!!!
