When I clicked Tools->Forms->Design a Form, then chose my custom form, I got this error message:

<Microsoft Office Outlook cannot provide form scripting support. This feature is not available. To make this feature available, run Setup again, click "Add or remove Features" and change the feature to "Run from My Computer">.

Although form is opened, I get this message again on clicking "View Code" button. Having done all these suggested steps, the same error appeared.

I use Office 2007 on a terminal server. Outlook 2007 on a standalone machine doesn't have any problems like that. What is the problem of Outlook 2007 in the terminal server?

I have searched through the archives and haven't found an answer so am posting hoping someone can help.

I am running Windows Vista on my new laptop and it came with Microsoft Office 2007 Home & Student preinstalled, I purchased an activation key for it and have it activated.

I have since decided that I would like Microsoft Outlook 2007 so purchased the stand-alone program and am trying to install it from the DVD. It asked if I wanted to uninstall Outlook 2003 and I did; installation got about 3/4 of the way completed then hung and had to be closed.

I verified that Outlook 2003 has been uninstalled (it was the only Office 2003 component I had installed) and have rebooted several times but the installation hangs up at the same spot every time, about 3/4 of the way through.

Might anyone have any suggestions to help me get this installed? I see a lot of problems of the program hanging upon boot but I can't even get that far. :)

Thank you,

Responding to my own post with the fix in case anyone else comes across this problem. If you have Microsoft Expression Web installed you will need to remove it prior to the Outlook 2007 installation.
I am so, so close to getting this working :)

I have a document library configured to receive email (MOSS 2007 std, exchange 2003) - emails arrive in the drop box ok and the sharepoint trace log shows that it successfully processes the email. However, no attachments are added to the document library.

If I tell the library to save a copy of the email message, then that *does* get added ok (but without the attachment stipped out). If I tell it to create separate folders for email conversations, then they get added too. I've even tried telling it to accept mail from anyone, still to no success. I've also tried sending as both plain text, rich and html - my mail client is Outlook 2007, but sending from Outlook 2003 doesn't work either.

All hints gratefully received!

Thanks,

Strange , never seen this problem with Outlook 2007. I have heard of it on Outlook 2003 and it turned out to be the way the Mime format was trying to send the attachment. Try changing the settings in Outlook for sending attachments. One way to proove it is an Outlook issue us try using OWA to send the attachment , if that works you know it is the Outlook sending method.

I have question regarding the email drag and drop in Sharepoint Document library folder in Outlook.

Following are sthe steps i have done to achieve Drag and Drop.

1. I have created a Sharepoint Document Library Folder in Outlook and Assigned Document library URL to the Home page of the Outlook Folder.

2. Wrote an event handler handler function for that Folder.

3. In that Even handler procedure i have captured the Droped email item and Captured the Web URL of the Document library Folder we have created in outlook and save the email item in the location wih ".Msg" format.

4. I can successfully drag an email from Outlook and Drop it in Sharepoint Document library Folder we have created in Outlook 2007 . This uploads the document to the Document library and we can see the uploaded email as ".msg" file in document library.

How to Upload the document with corresponding Metadata to the Share point Document Library Programatically using VB.net

We have a product called Drag&DropIt that will be able to assist with this so you can create emails that you can drag and drop into SharePoint 2003 / 2007 WSS / SPS / MOSS.

It also profiles all meta data of an email and allows you to view that document library without leaving Outlook. There is offline functionality so you can drag into these folder while offline and you can create new SharePoint document library folders from Outlook.

You can create rules so emails are automatically sent from Outlook to SharePoint.

You can view more information at

I know that OL 2007 no longer renders HTML using IE. This prevents using HTML forms in Outlook email. I know that by clicking Other Actions, then Open in Browser that the email can be opened in IE and the HTML form works as it did in Outlook 2003.

Is there any way to add a button or link within an HTML email that opens the email in IE directly? Basically, the user would open the email in IE with one click instead of two.

This question is not for me (I don't mind opening the email in IE with two clicks), it is for my users (4000). They will always prefer opening in one click. It may seem trivial, and I know that "The users need to adapt" is one response. What I would like to know if it is possible.

Thanks in advance.

No, it's not possible. There's no URL syntax for that, which means it's not possible without writing script in the HTML message, which of course Outlook won't run.

Thank you Sue. I suspect that this question will be frequently asked when OL 2007 is released to the general pubic.

I wanted to add something that may be of use to others: Displaying text at the top of the html form email when viewed by OL 2007. I added the following text just below the <body> tag.

<!--[if gte mso 12]><BR>To submit your selection using Outlook 2007 click the <STRONG>Other Actions</STRONG> button, then <STRONG>View in Browser</STRONG>.<BR><![endif]-->

Users with older versions of Outlook will not see this text. OL 2007 users will see "To submit your selection using Outlook 2007 click the Other Actions button, then View in Browser." at the top of the email. At least users will be able to know what to do without having to contact the help desk to find out.

Credit goes to Syd Low at AlienCamel for this one. He was mentioned in an article in Windows IT Pro (http://www.windowsitpro.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=93346&DisplayTab=Article) I found while searching for a solution. I contacted him, and he was kind enough to reply. Thanks, Syd!

Thanks for reminding about that technique. I'm working on a chapter on message body formats for my Outlook 2007 programming book this week and will be sure to include that tip. I'll also post a comment on the online article to make sure the tip is available to those readers.
