Hi,

I have a document library and I added two content types, both based on the Document content type, but with some extra columns.  When I am in the document library and go to create a new document using one of my content types I always get a plain word document with none of my columns showing.  I deleted the simple document content type from the doc library and then I was able to create a new document using the (new) default type.  However, there are two content types in the doc lib, but no matter which one I click to start a new document, I always get the default one.  Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed?

Thanks,
Cynthia

1) To set document template to be opened on new button click, set document template in your content type, advanced settings.

2) Once you upload or create a document of the associated content type, the associated columns will be displayed.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I actually wanted to use the same template for both content types (basic word document), but associate different meta data w/each.  My problem was that no matter which content type I selected for creating a new document in a doc library, I was always given the default content type.  I removed both content types from the library and re-added them and it seems to be working fine.  I don't know what happened the first time around.

Thanks again,
Cynthia
