Hi All

Does anyone know how to create a customized workflow in Sharepoint 2003 Portal. I am stuck at the moment. Microsoft says that it is possible to create one's own workflow but doesn't show how to do that. I have already seen two webcasts on microsoft's site that demonstrate workflow process using Approval Manager but what if i want to develop an ApprovalManager of my own. How can i develop a workflow of my own? Can someone guide me and show me the right direction? Please help!

Thanks

Roger William

Hello,

Although Sharepoint Portal lacks workflow engine which was present in Sharepoint Portal 2001  (albiet a simple one).

But Sharepoint Services object model allows you to create workflow engines on your own by exposing events associated with Document Library. So what you can do is that you can capture events from document library and perform custom actions as per your workflow requirements.

Dear Hammad

Thanks for your quick response! Are there any samples available on internet or in MSDN? Can you point me to the relevant URLs?

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Roger

Dear Roger ,

you can downlaod

Document Library Event Handler from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4B2C2F1B-D74A-482A-903A-45BB44C5DEC4&displaylang=en

Sharepoint Workflow Libraries from:

http://www.gotdotnet.com/Workspaces/Workspace.aspx?id=499cfb22-e7a6-466c-bc95-c81acc75e68f

I will suggest you to read a book titled "Microsoft Sharepoint:

Buidling Office 2003 solutions" by Scot P. Hilier, APress. It has a complete description of how to enable events in document library and how to attach custom event handler etc to it.
