Seems like PDC is all about good news for Windows Mobile users.

I just saw at PocketPCThoughts.com that Microsoft will be launching an on-line version of Office 14.

The best is that Windows Mobile users will get lightweight versions of four Office products via web browser.

More on this via PocketPCThoughts.com.

JGUI has just released a new version of their popular SMS report eraser program that automatically deals and erases those useful but nasty to get rid of SMS delivery reports.

The program also allows you to keep the reports on a specific folder avoiding the cluttering of your SMS inbox.

For $13,55 you can get the program and more info here.

Dale Coffing, a fellow MVP serves as the host for a very interesting presentation of the Ultimate range by i-mate.

These devices have great specs, and what I really like the most is that they come with XGA output that allows resolutions up to 1024x768!

Unlike other models from other makers, this feature comes out of the box, since you don't have to purchase the cable separately.

Watch the full presentation here.

Windows Mobile developers have been presented with a whole new portal that not only looks pretty cool, but also seems quite easy to navigate.

It is indeed a saga that Samsung seems to making around Windows Mobile Phones! And we love it!

According to PhoneArena.com, this Samsung Epix/i780 alike device will be replacing the i760, and sports features such as features EV-DO Rev. A, WI-Fi, Bluetooth, microSD and 2MP camera.

It looks pretty fine to me. Which one would you choose? This one or the Epix?

Also it does seem that Verizon is betting strong on Windows Mobile by broadening their offer to include the US version of the HTC Touch Pro and of the Samsung i900.

bluehoo-logo-web

Today at PDC Microsoft announced a new social application:

Bluehoo is a mobile app that helps you make new social connections with the people around you - for business or for pleasure. Bluehoo uses Bluetooth to discover "hoos" around you right here, right now, shows you those people’s profiles and helps you start conversations.

You can download Bluehoo for free here.

Sony Ericsson is about to enter the realm of Windows Mobile with what promises to be a very interesting and high quality device.

This is what Paul over at Modaco thinks about the X1:

I think the X1 will do well both here and over the pond and I am particularly interested to see how the additional brand kudos of Sony Ericsson helps drive sales in real retail channels (as I believe the Samsung name has helped shift a ton of Omnias). Having another big name on board the WinMo train is certainly a good thing.

GB-SOFT is a free Data Connection Management software that allows you to control how your device behaves in terms of connectivity.

One of the things I most appreciate in this application is the fact that you can configure your device to disconnect the GPRS/3G data connection after a predetermined amount of time that the device is idle.

More info and the download here.

Microsoft as officially reported a bug on Windows Mobile 6.1 that makes you unexpectedly lose the ability to send e-mail messages.

I had personally gone through this experience and had to make a hard-reset on my i780 to solve this.

What happens is you are not able to send out any e-mail messages on one or more e-mail accounts.

There is however a simpler workaround for this issue reported here.

Here it is:

To work around this behavior and to restore full e-mail functionality, you must delete the existing e-mail account and then set up the e-mail account again.

Important All the e-mail messages in the Outbox folder on the Windows Mobile 6.1-based device are erased when you delete the existing e-mail account. You must re-create these e-mail messages after you set up the e-mail account again.
Note This workaround is only a temporary solution. Until a resolution becomes available, this behavior may reoccur for the new e-mail account.

Though not the ideal solution, it works, so lets hope for a ROM upgrade on the near future that might solve this issue.

DiamondDock

One of the items I really miss to see when opening a new Windows Mobile device packaging is the Docking Station or if you wish the Cradle.

This item was pretty common back in 2000 when I first bought my iPaq 3630, and in the coming years. However, trying to get devices at cheaper prices and changing the focus to extra software like Navigation software on a memory card, and others changed this trend and now this tradition has been lost.

Ever since this happened, and every time I open a package of a new device, I always fell like there's something missing, like if the extras are a bit shortcoming of what I would like.

Lately the only hardware maker that surprised me was Samsung by including a battery charger and an extra battery on the SGH-i780.

What do you think of this? Would you like to see cradles again when you open your new device? If not What other piece of accessories would you have like to see bundled with your future device?

Wizi is the new way to share your location and traffic information with friends and fellow citizens. This free solution was designed by a Portuguese company and according to them is defined as:

A location based social network. It uses GPS and cell ID to define the location of each community member and calculates the travel time between friends using user generated data. Users can also send free messages and display photos and other information in the member’s map location. Privacy is totally maintained and each user can easily select what to disclose, when he wants and with whom he wants to. Wizi can be used anywhere in the world since you have Internet connection and GPS signal / cellular network.

Wizi is a free application. However it requires data transfer and it is strongly recommend our users to have a fixed data plan with their operator.
With Wizi you can avoid traffic jams and save time when driving in the city. For families, Wizi tells instantly where the kids are or when family members leave work or arrive home. Friends can use Wizi to share photos of their location or to find the best club at night where the rest of the group is. Colleagues can coordinate their arrival at meetings in a way never possible before.

The application is available for both Windows Mobile Standard and Professional and you can create an account and download it here.
