Again, that guy practically lived there all these days, I think he was scared of the crowd, which was very aggressive. So anyone that is planning on going next year get prepared to get pushed around, etc...

We had an appointment that my proclaimed to be CF boss Kleaner set up for us to play the Gears of Wars demo. We had to wait in line for a while for this, unfortunately they didn't allow us to take any pictures, and I got to be spectator for this time. Since, they only allowed two people from each staff to play the game. Even the G4 crew had to follow these rules. Surprisingly, I find out from Godfree that our MVP Lead Tony had arranged for the MVPs to play the Gears of War demo. First most, the controls are a bit funky to adjust but once you adjust to them you will love it. I had a blast doing melee attacks with the chainsaw, may I say it was bloody. Sadly that Godfree was in my team or else it would've been a lot better. The multiplayer gameplay was really fun, somehow you can't away with the whole run and gun. The graphics looked amazing; well they are using that Unreal 3 engine, so no doubt that graphics will play a big factor. I would've like to have gotten a feel of the single player just compared the differences between the multiplayer. I guess I will have to wait and see just like all of us. Sadly to say my team lost, I blame it on Godfree...

After that depressing loss we decided to go check out a few other games that where demonstrated. I first went to checkout Mass Effect. By the looks of the game the graphics look pretty solid. I am not much into sci-fi games, but from what I noticed it looked like it had a lot of possibilities. Even though, the game is still being developed. They did share with us to expect to see some downloadable content such as customization of your character. Unfortunately they didn't give us details about kind of achievements we will need to achieve. As far as multiplayer we didn't get a definite answer to this. So we shall see... Then we headed to the Crackdown room, the graphics looked cartoony, but no doubt that would be a fun and easy game. It reminded me of a futuristic version of GTA. They shared with us that the achievements will definitely be worth your time. So anyone seeking to get some easy points, this might be the game to go for. We decided to go checkout Too Human, one of the neat things that caught my attention was. You flip foes in the air with your sword. Some of the goodies to expect to see are aerial combat, four player co-op play over xbox live and other surprises. They did share with us that they will make good use of the marketplace, so we shall see...

Last game we went to checkout was Luminus Live, we got to meet Tetsuya Mizuguchi he was a very noble person. He shared with us some of the new things to expect on Lumines Live. It will feature music videos in the background of the playing field. At the MS Press Briefing Madonna's was featured in the background as blocks where shifted and dropped into place. Expect to see downloadable content and more...I will be sure playing this game on my 360. Anyone that wants a challenge it's on!

Later that day it was party time, the Xbox Live party. It was being hosted at the stylish Social Hollywood with entertainment provided by DJ Z-Trip. I didn;t dare to try the food there. Some of the familiar faces that I saw where some of the MVPs, Dirty Diva, Godfree PsychoSkitten and E. The Xbox community staff was also there (of course) Trixie, John Porcaro, Tony Hynes, Cezar Menendez, some of the Frag Dolls: Rhoulette, Katscratch, Seppuku, Calyber and Psyche, as well as other gamers Gypse, Stratford, Lady and some of the crew of Teamxbox and others from the online world. They had a full bar with basically anything you wanted to drink. Speaking of that, godfree and I where so out of it. He had too much Bacardi and Cola and I had too many apple martinis. I tried to play some games there but sadly people where hogging the controllers everywhere. We did managed to snatch some audios of the party so check them out at the GTR site. Overall my experience at E306 was a bit of a surprise the way things turned out. A good portion of the time I was stressed out over the amount of people that where there, the elbowing, pushing around and awkward moments, I just wasn't too thrill to go thru. I had some surprises from people that I never knew they where that way, but hey I am nobody to judge on people peculiar behaviors. But in general it was a pleasure meeting new people and some of the people that I know from xbox live. If you plan to go there I say save up some $$$ first, because you will need enough cash for food, transportation, etc... Next year plans, I will try to make more changes in regards to planning. I was unable to enjoy everything from E3. Hopefully some things will improve for next year and please no more awkward moments for those of you that know what I mean. Laterz! Lastly, I have sorted out a list of the best of E306:

I thought I was more prepared to what was coming to me. I stopped at first at the community bus to pick up Godfree, that guy was never out of that bus, seriously. I think he was always hiding there...what a chicken. Anyways, we decided to check the great food they had available for us (*sarcasm*). The food was horrible and quite pricey; we spent around $25 on two burgers, fries and drinks. The only reason why I am actually pushing this, it's because they really should work on having better food there. I don't mind paying an arm and leg for things but I like good quality. This day was going to be a short day, I had to do some stuff with my family.

I ran into my Coin-Op.tv buddie Rob, who never misses an E3 event. This guy is pretty old school..been trying so hard to get him to join up on Xbox Live and won't. I give him props for sticking to the old school games.

Then, I joined up with Godfree to get EGM Shoe output of the next generation consoles. He shared with us his thoughts about the Wii and PS3. In addition to that the Peter Moore interview was brought up. Out of some other people that we ever have on the show, I got to say that Shoe is one the most straight-out individuals that can still manage to sound professional and no doubt the guy has very good knowledge in the industry. We also met up with Kimi around and no doubt that she is very sweet. I also got a top and t-shirt from 1up which was pretty cool. We managed to privately go checkout Madden 07, which btw looks amazing. I am not of a football fan. But I do like checking out things like the grass that looked top knotch. Some of the new additions that you will expect to see in the game no doubt that the madden fans will be pleased.

Along with this interview we snatched an interview with BReal and Crazy Bone who where at the event. We had to wait so long for this, I amazed of how wild people get for famous people. I got some entertainment from Godfree getting harrassed by security.

We walked around several booths such as the NCSoft, we had to go checkout Guild Wars of course. If you had an account set up, you would've been able to play the game there at E3. They had some perfomers there, that was a bit strange. But I guess whatever it takes to catch people's attention. Along with that we tried our best to get that free shirt from Nvidia and I wonder what's that thing that Nvidia was demonstrating on the bottom left pic I got here, hmmm... Well that's it for my second day, we didn't do much. I had to go spent some time with my family. I will post up my final day at E3 and what else I got involved with...Laterz!

Photography credits to Godfree and Vision!

E306 - Day 1

After driving for almost two hours to LA with my fiancee (Jason, aka. Vision), we finally made it to the first day at E3. After not being in California for a year, I can tell that nothing has changed in regards to traffic and gas prices are very high. I feel for the Californian residents, that have to deal with this.

We still managed to arrive at the Convention Center an hour early. The first thing I noticed was the community bloggers bus. The guys did a great job with the bus, they made it as much possible for us to provide the community enough information about the event. It's a shame that I don't own a laptop and I don't feel comfortable using other people's computers. Otherwise, I would've shared all this from the bus.

Then the doors finally opened at 10 am, there was a lot of people just lining up to go in. The first booth that I noticed was the Ubisoft booth, they where playing some music that at first sounded half decent but then when I heard the same song over and over it went from decent to blah. I was quite surprise to see some booth babes there. But I guess that's marketing and they where actually dressed pretty decent, compared to others...But I still don't have nothing against those girls. Hey, they have to deal with a lot of mess.

Then we decided to go inside to check out as much as possible that way we could have a better idea. I checked out the EA they where demonstrating trailers of various games that we will be expecting to see soon. The one that caught my attention was Sims 2, Pets. I am a huge Sims fan so anytime EA comes up with an expansion no doubt that it will be on my list. Other games that they where demonstrating was Godfather 2, Madden 07 (of course) and more.

We then decided to go checkout the Xbox 360 booth that was located in the rear of the South Hall, close by third party companies like Ubisoft and Blizzard. I don't know from last year, but the booth looked great. It was nicely decorated with the 360's hardware on the side, limited edition faceplates, skinned with Microsoft's Zero Hour launch event, and others had house duo Daft Punk's logo.

Some of the games that I checked out where Los Planet: Extreme Condition, Prey, F.E.A.R., Chromehounds, Ninety-Nights, Madden NFL 07, Too Human, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Crackdown and MotoGP 06. They also demonstrated the games for Windows too bad I didn't see a new Age of Empires available; at least an expansion would've been nice. They also had the Halo 3 trailer playing, so I guess they wanted to get some hype going for H3. Other than Gears of Wars, the game that caught my attention was MotoGP 06, too bad I will have to wait till June. But no doubt that will be one of the games that I will be adding to our collection.

In addition to the games they offered gamers a glance at some of the new Xbox 360 peripherals, the external HD-DVD player, which was previously unveiled on Tuesday at the Microsoft Press Briefing that some of us got to attend. Also, the wireless, force-feedback steering wheel was held aloft by wires, and next to that were an Xbox 360 controller, the wireless Ethernet adapter, the Bluetooth headset, and a wireless receiver, which makes Xbox 360 gear compatible with PCs.

We then passed by Nintendo's Wii and I was expecting more. I guess we shall see the outcome of that new controller. I hate to put them together but then we decided to checkout the infamous PS3, I got the impression that they didn't really have much to offer to their fans. I guess we will see in the holidays. Either way, I will most likely end up purchasing both consoles. I might hold off on the PS3 till it drops in price, because that $500-$600 price range it's really pushing it too high.

Other booths that where around we mainly took pictures of them. Scarface - The World is Yours had a pretty stylish booth, too bad Al Pacino wasn't there. The game looked half decent; I don't know about games that are based on movies. Perhaps if Radical decides to use a certain percentage of profits they make from the game to a Cuban foundation, I might consider it. Moving on, we then decided to checkout what Nvidia had available for us, what techy is not interested in this? They had over 45 games running the GeForce 6800 GPUs. Besides that they had available for gamers to visit the "Unreal Engine 3 Theater" for viewing the Unreal Engine 3 demo, powered by the GeForce 6800. They also had the latest Nvidia GeForce 6800 demos: Nalu, Timbury and Clear Sailing.

We then decided to head back to the bus, to meet up with Godfree for C3 Community party. The community party was pretty cool, they offered an open bar and I got to meet some of the MVPs, John Porcaro, some of the staff from Xbox.com in Japan ( that where really sweet ) and others. They combined a get together with games, drinks, snacks and some of the gamers that are part of the Xbox community. I got my hands on shadowrun and I tried to play the MotoGP 06 demo, but unfortunately there was always too many people playing it. After the party ended, we where exhausted we had to drive back home to rest for the next day. I will be posting later tomorrow day two and the last day of E3...

Photography credits to Godfree, Vision, John Porcaro and Eric!

Microsoft Press Briefing!

Well after flying on Monday night to California and getting stuck in the Minneapolis for a couple hours. I just never seem to have good luck whenever I fly to California, oh well it still gets the medal of the best state in the US, take that New Yorkers. The combination of great weather, variety of places to go, etc... Anyways, we started off the day in the Microsoft Press Briefing that took place at the stylish Chinese Theater in Hollywood, great location! The theater was decorated with xbox 360 in the stage, variety pictures of average looking people with different styles and we had water bottles waiting for us, haha...and once again I got to hear Chemical Brothers, I keep on hearing them in commercials, now they are getting played in events.

The show initially started displaying on the big screen a feed of various gamertags such as mine of course, some of the Xbox MVPs, EGM guys too, and others. Cliffy B presented the show wearing really casual apparel, he introduced real actual gameplay demo of Gears of Wars. I thought this was a neat idea, instead of seeing cinematics, we got to real actual in game graphics. Too bad we weren't able to test this puppy out. This game is definitely on my list of games.

The list titles that we will be expecting to see are:
“Alan Wake” (Remedy Entertainment Inc.). “Alan Wake” is a psychological action thriller. Cited as one of the best titles of E3 2005, “Alan Wake” introduces a deeply engaging and suspenseful storyline in a free-roaming open world that invites players to unravel the riveting plot and experience intense combat that combines the use of light with more conventional weapons. “Alan Wake” will be released on Windows Vista™ and Xbox 360. Timing is not yet announced.

“Blue Dragon” (Mistwalker/Artoon Co. Ltd.). From famed game producer Hironobu Sakaguchi comes “Blue Dragon,” a unique, epic role-playing game (RPG) that centers on a young boy named Shu and several of his friends who must harness the power of their phantom shadows in their fight against an eminent evil. “Blue Dragon” will launch later this year in Japan.

“Crackdown” (Real Time Worlds). Dave Jones, creator of “Grand Theft Auto,” brings his brand of unprecedented, open-ended gameplay to the next-generation with “Crackdown™.” “Crackdown” sets players loose in a free-form, persistent playground where a citywide fight against crime requires a new kind of hero who evolves into a bigger, stronger, faster, more efficient weapon of justice through continued gameplay. “Crackdown” will launch in 2006. Timing is not yet announced.

“Fable 2” (Lionhead Studios). “Fable 2” is the highly anticipated sequel to the best-selling “Fable.” Set 500 years after the original game, “Fable 2” will offer even more choices and features, while building on the core gameplay theme of “Fable” where every choice continually defines who you become, allowing you to truly live the life you choose.
The show ended with a very quick trailer of Halo 3 (big surprise *sarcasm*), so yep we got teased. Mainly since we won't be expecting to see Halo 3 till 2007. Overall the show was well coordinated there was a lot of media involved and a good decent amount of security. From anonymous sources that attended the Sony and Nintendo event, they definitely gave the thumbs up to Microsoft's press briefing.

We then walked across to the Roosevelt Hotel, for the after party. There was a lot of flat screen tvs all over the place. Bean bags, where available in certain areas. I was unable to play some of the demos that where being demonstrated. Either the individuals who where demonstrating half the time hogged the games or there was too many people around trying to play. I got to meet some of the MVPs, along with my MVP Lead Tony Hynes. Wow, I thought he was taller, haha...jk Tony!

I also got to meet some of the other Gamerscore Blog guys John Porcaro and Cesar Menendez. The music at the party was a bit not my style, but hey they had a female DJ can't hate them for that. A lot of people that where at the event could've done better with their fashion. One the outfits that caught my attention where a couple girls wearing some 80s style outfits that where a bit too much for what people wear in LA.

The entrees looked cute but I just wasn't gutsy enough to try it. The drinks where great, nice job, we had an open bar of pretty much any drink you wanted to drink. Too bad it didn't last too long, it kind of feels funny leaving a party in the middle of day. But hey can't complain we still had a great time. I will post later my E3 experience...
