Happy Birthday Xbox!

On November 15, 2001 the first Xbox showed up on store shelves. A year later, we saw the debut of Xbox Live. It's been five fun years of smack talk, butt kicking and getting involved with the community. Sadly I am no longer with the original xbox I initially played in. But the one we have now rocks too. I am glad to have experienced the next generation console of 2001, no other console was able top the Xbox (take that PS2 fans over at Gamestop, I swear that store had a load of PS2 fans back in '01 that now finally realized the Xbox was a better deal).

Here's a few of the first games that I experienced with my xbox:

Azurik: Rise of Perathia is one of the deepest, most immersive 3-D action-adventure games developed for Xbox. Players assume the role of Azurik, a young apprentice sworn to protect the sacred elements - fire, water, earth and air. As Azurik, players travel the vast realms of the elements on a mission to stop the progress of an apocalyptic prophecy already in motion.

Dead or Alive 3 gives gamers the ability to enjoy a richer, more intense, action-packed experience than was previously possible on a video game system. DEAD OR ALIVE 3 is a 3D fighting game transplanted from the arcade to home, specifically for the Xbox.

Halo is a sci-fi shooter that takes place on a mysterious alien ring-world. Packed with combat, Halo will have you battling on foot, and in vehicles, inside and outdoors with Alien and Human weaponry. Your objective: to uncover Halo's horrible secrets and destroy mankind's sworn enemy, the Covenant.

Project Gotham Racing is the future generation racing game where fun and reward come from focusing equally on speed, flair and risk-taking. "Project Gotham Racing" is circuit-based racing in photo-realistic downtown environments. Players can race against up to three friends at a time through realistic time-of-day and weather conditions. Players can also choose from 20 different cars and compete on more than 200 city-based circuits. With 100+ individual and wheel-to-wheel racing challenges and a separate arcade mode, gamers can expect hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Moto GP Online Demo players had access to 23 riders as well as three courses: Jerez, Mugello and Sachsenring. The demo lets gamers check out two gameplay modes: "Play Live" allows them to race against 16 other Xbox Live players and trash talk with the three closest riders using the Xbox Communicator, while "Time Trial" lets them attempt to set the best lap time in a solo race. MotoGP also supports voice masking with eight different preset options, including an option where gamers can fully customize their voice. For those who already own the full version of MotoGP, the Xbox Live Starter Kit will completely unlock online play for all of the tracks in the game. Owners of the full version can also import custom riders into the game and race with them online.

Whacked! Online Demo featured fast and furious combat in which eight demented contestants are pitted against each other in the world's most irreverent and dangerous game show. When contestants take the stage, all hell breaks loose as free-for-all combat ensues. Contestants must use power-ups and zany weapons such as giant staplers and rubber ducky grenades to flatten their opponents and win a grand prize that's out of this world.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon you are invited to lead this brand-new squad as they focus on covert military strikes and international peacekeeping missions that do not always go as planned. You and your team conduct extensive missions on foot, but you'll occasionally have assistance from troops in tanks, helicopters and close air support. In many cases, you'll be working with international military forces and NATO to fight against rising dictators and rebel groups. Be prepared to scope out the defences of an enemy, blow up bridges to stop an advance, raid rebel bases, and rescue an American pilot who gets shot down deep in enemy territory.

Unreal Championship uses the latest Unreal technology created by Epic Games to render the most amazing graphical effects seen on any console to date. The game combines a brilliant single player experience with an unparalleled multi-player component - players can fight through a series of matches in the single player mode against computer-controlled opponents (bots) or play online against human-controlled adversaries.
