Wireless connection integrity via the D-Link G132 USB adapter has been really good but the connection strength was not good at all, fluctuating between 50 and 66%. I have enabled the internal Realtek 8191SE adapter again, updating to the latest drivers from Realtek from their own website, and connection strength is back to 100%. I can only hope that the 8191SE maintains its connection better with the latest drivers.

Past history with the 8191SE is a catalogue of dropped connections, something which has plagued Toshiba L500’s and later models for a considerable while. I thought about replacing it with a dual band Atheros adapter, but I am not convinced that it is entirely due to the adapter. One has to remember that the adapter plugs into an internal PCIe slot which maybe is the real cause.

Anyway, It is still holding up after four days. Imagine that..

Download rates are fluctuating between 10 and 27mb so Rogers Cable is operating as well as can be expected. For the price, it is better than Bell can do in this area of the city, so I am not unhappy about Internet performance.

One aspect that really annoys me is that support for the unit is through ISP’s only. There is a USB port on the back which is for ‘selected client devices’ and that is as much as the manual tells me. It is not the normal small square port associated with hardware devices. It looks to be able to take a network storage device or USB printer. Rogers online support says that it does nothing. I have seen in other forums similar stuff, and the 3825 manual from any source states ‘for selected client devices’..
