When you have a fast system, processes can be running in the background which you don’t notice.

A few days ago, I was looking through Programs and Features for junk to uninstall, and I came across Yahoo Toolbar. It had to go, especially as last time there was a Yahoo upgrade, I specifically checked NOT to install it.

So I set the uninstall process running, and guess what? It has been running for days. It came to my attention when looking at Speedfan temperatures today. I was interested to see how the CPU was doing since refitting the fan and, to my horror, the CPU was running at 48°C.. All other temperatures were normal to low, so I didn’t suspect fans.

Opening up Task Manager, I saw that Au_.exe (the Yahoo uninstaller) was taking up 25% of the CPU. Grrrrrrrrrrr..

Between Speedfan and Revo Uninstaller, I have rectified the situation. I opted for ‘deep digging’ by Revo to ensure that ALL of the useless Yahoo toolbar was removed.

My CPU is running at 36°C now, a much better level..

Do yourself a favour, un-install all this kind software and the problem will go away. I suggest that you uninstall your antivirus program as well. :D
