As time passes and new software versions are being released, I am constantly being forced to change the way that I do things. Change is good. Windows 7 is better than any other Windows OS before it.. BUT

Windows Classic Menu

With us since Windows 9x, we had it in Windows 2000, XP and Vista. That is a lot of years. Where one time we could create a set of folders and place our most used programs and it all looked nice and neat, now we can still create the folders but maintaining the nice neat look is really difficult.

There are utilities which mimic the Classic Menu, but they do not cut it at all. I have finally given up on ever trying to get a Classic look back,

I would like to make it known, publicly, that I do not like the fact that the Classic Menu has been removed and I protest vehemently re the loss of this great feature.

Windows Live Mail 2011 – Newsgroups sort feature

The ‘sort messages’ feature used to work well for me. I used to be able to sort by date sent, keep the posts in ‘conversations’, AND promote items flagged by me to stay at the top of the list. This enabled me to keep easy track of all posts to which I had replied or had an interest in.

But wait.. Those of us who help in the online computer communities/forums are a minority which obviously had no representative in the focus groups that Microsoft listen to most.

I would like to make it known, publicly, that I do not like the fact that the ability to promote flagged items,  the way that it always was has been, was removed and I protest vehemently re the loss of this great feature.

Yes, some computer software has too many features. Lotus WordPro was testament to that, but lots of features make it easier to get what you want, and they should be easy to use. Windows is moving away from this concept..
