Microsoft Program Managers, Mark Boulter and Mike Harsh, have provided an MSDN TV presentation over "Cider", the visual designer for Windows Presentation Foundation ("WPF" - formerly code-named "Avalon"). The designer is being created for Line of Business developers who want to take advantage of WPF.
The primary goal of "Cider" is to allow designers and developers to work closer together than they have in the past. Developers will be able to work with the controls much like they have with the current Windows Form Designer, yet generate XAML code. Designers will be able to use "Sparkle" to enhance the presentation for users. Event generation and handling is available through VB and C# code.
Demonstrated features include:
- Dynamic Docking Panels
- Canvas Representations
- XAML code
- Layout
